Subject: Can Poser 5 produce professional renders?

Ok so yes, I'm one of those newbies who downloaded the free P5 . . . and having been a longtime DS user, I'm rather accustomed to DAZ|Studio's rendering system....3Delight...and I was wondering, can P5's Firefly renderer produce professional quality renders such as the one below? The render below was done in DAZ|Studio and took about 3.5 minutes minutes to complete. The background was added in photoshop, and no other postwork has been done to the image....

In Poser 5, I can't even seem to get smooth shading...and yes, I've been playing with their render settings for a day and a half....

Ooo...that's a good idea....feels dumb I should upgrade then...I wonder if they'll let you upgrade their free download version...

hope so...:)

I'm pretty sure that's possible; if not the sole reason for making P5 available for free in the first place. :)

LOL, this is true.  I've seen ads and promos from even companies like McDonalds
using Poser 4's Possette.

HAHAHA! yeah, posette it still doing the rounds!! she it used in our newspapers, on the tv news, and in sports books, though if i did some press-ups and my arm went like that, i'm gonna phone a doctor!! they even used P4 man in the newspaper to recreate Steve Irwins death!! which i thought was pretty weird, can't imagine making that scene myself!

You may not *need* to upgrade, I sense alot of subsurface scattering in your image.  Very nice by the way!

The Masters at that are Python Gurus Face_Off, and his partner Morris.

I've seen HyperRealV3.py, bring out the best in 3-4 of my best half-dozen textures!

a handful of users can do excellent renders in P5 (with postwork). but the average user will take too many shortcuts and fail to read the manual (or even ask questions). hence, he/she will usually produce renders of the sort that give poser a bad name amongst 3D snobs using professional software.

Ah I see now! I'd completely forgotten about Face_off and his wonderful tools! lol

After I upgrade the software to P6, I'll be sure to buy FO's realism kits. :)

Thank you!
