I am having the same download problems, their entire website is running real slow as well...  I wonder if they are being swamped with people trying to download Poser5?  I am surprised they do not have mirror sites elsewhere like DAZ did for Bryce 5 using C|Net.

Just had this email corro with Content Paradise:

Thanks a lot, That is what I thought was happening. I am in no hurry, I will try again next week.

That is a relief, I was worried that the downloads would be limited to the timeframe for getting it free as well.

Just registered, which took 1/2 hour. Then when i tried to log onto the site i was told that the page could not be found.

Looks like we'll just have to wait (or set your alarm for 3 in the morning!!)

chohole ( ) posted Fri, 01 September 2006 at 1:50 PM

The delays you are all experiencing is strangely similar to the delays most people exxperienced who purchased P5 on pre-orders when it was first issued. I finally got my copy 2 weeks later than promised.

And now its free

serendigity59@gmail.com ( ) posted Fri, 01 September 2006 at 6:04 PM

Perhaps they should have anticipated this and have arranged a deal with a large download site such as C|Net. Apart from those seeking Poser 5, their regular business must be suffering  due to inability to access/download...

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Fri, 01 September 2006 at 6:09 PM

Phew!  Thanks for posting that bit about it not expiring, I was about to panic.  The last Poser I could use was Poser 4 off a magazine - well, not use very well, but better than Poser3.  I had a look at Poser5 some long time back and liked it better but couldn't afford the cost of it.

Suddenly as "free" I can afford it - then I can't download it - arrrggghhhhhh!

Only 4 days and I go to college on Monday, and even if I can get online there - there's no way on earth they'd allow me to download that!

Major panic...  So thanks for calming me down.

Maybe if I get to use Poser5 properly - i.e. not a demo - I might get to like it.

So....... if I can't download it before I go to college I can still get it in a fortnight?  i.e. when I get to my broadband at home again?

Right?  Good...

Yes, as long as you are registered there, and have added it to your cart/account for later download. (Just don't want anyone else reading this to get confused)  ;o)

I've already got it, but an additional free license is always welcome. :-) Man, is it slow. I've left it in my checkout queue for the moment. I suppose it's fully updated? Conent is SR4.

Darned file doesn't download properly - neither of them.  So now I have two useless files.

And you can't contact anyone there without paying through the nose just to talk to someone - 79!!!  Yikes!!!

Say, if you have an old demo of Poser5 can you use the Content Paradise serial number to get it to work?  It would save having to jam up my computer with just downloading P5 all day.

Of course, even if that worked, I still wouldn't have the Hero CD content thingie - does anyone know what's in that?

fran- Have you tried using a download manager?

Used FDM and managed to get 94% in 2 hours (pretty quick considering).

If it does hang, at least you can continue later without havib-ng to start from scratch (i hope)

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Sun, 03 September 2006 at 11:35 AM

I haven't tried a download manager, no.  But I've just gone and fetched one, will try with that later today - my last chance.

Thanks for the idea.

Now for the content download...

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Sun, 03 September 2006 at 12:09 PM · edited Sun, 03 September 2006 at 12:13 PM

Got the free download manager, and now the file is downloading again - but FDM doesn't think I am downloading anything, I obviously didn't do it right - how do you get the FDM to work?

Hang on, hang on - maybe Content Paradise has a download manager???

Download's already stopped and seems to be the right size...

I don't get this...

(still don't know how FDM works though)

Still no joy, only partial downloads so far and although I've found out how to (sort of) get a file to TRY downloading with FDM - I keep getting "unknown server error" and a 5 second pause, repeated a few times then everything stops... grrrr!

Can  anyone help?

I would suggest waiting until the rush subsides and then trying again through your browser.

adrianharrison ( ) posted Mon, 04 September 2006 at 1:43 AM

Fran.

Did this with me as well, but if you right click on the file name (top window) you will see from the drop down that it is still trying to load.

It should automatically try to download again. This means you can leave it, go and make a cup of tea, and it will carry on without you!

If this doesn't work, do as Maleny suggests and wait till it's quieter.

adrianharrison ( ) posted Mon, 04 September 2006 at 3:40 AM

Anyone know were i can download the manual?

AgentSmith ( ) posted Mon, 04 September 2006 at 5:28 AM

It's not a pdf in the download(s)? Not installed in the program directory?

So far, the only one I've seen who has successfully downloaded a complete file is adrianharrison. tom271, I, like you, have been having trouble with this. I've been trying this for days, and I have DSL. It either downloads a tiny file or gets somewhere over 100 megabytes and stops. I've never gotten more than 50 percent. This is with MS's download protocols.

I've tried Getright download manager, too, with which I usually have success, but it only downloads a php, and I can't seem to access the .exe file itself.

I'm going to give this a try at the office, because I have a faster connection there, but this seems to be an exercise in futility. I understand that their server is tied up. Lots of us wouldn't mind having Poser 5 for free. However, hiding the file behind a string of alphabet soup and then only getting partial downloads by using built-in download dialogs can frustrate a person after five days.

Mirrors would be good, too.

Just shows the difference between the minds at work behind the scenes...  DAZ had the forethought to use an externat mirror for their free Bryce 5 offer...

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 07 September 2006 at 7:51 PM

Well...I can only guess that using an external mirror costs major $$$$$$, what with the amount of bandwidth that sucker pulled down.

adrianharrison ( ) posted Fri, 08 September 2006 at 2:38 AM

pakled- if your quick you might still have a chance of getting it, just checked the site and THE OFFER IS STILL OPEN (ends today) :woot:

By the way, I might have got download 1, but I've only got about 10% of download 2 in 7 days!!

Use FDM and you can 'pick' at it a whenever your online. Oh yes, it doesn't seem to affect you download limit of 10 if you do it this way!! 👍

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Fri, 08 September 2006 at 6:36 AM · edited Fri, 08 September 2006 at 6:40 AM

Well, I just tried again just now - six days later, and that darned site is STILL jammed solid..

By the way, I had to uninstall Free Download Manager (as I couldn't quickly discover how to - or even if you could - disable it temporarily) as it was interfering with normal downloads (this as well as not being able to download more than one small part of the first bit of the Poser5 program).  My husband nearly blew a fuse trying to download an essential fileon to the laptop, for his collapsed PC, sitting, squatting evilly in the other room - in the normal way - I think he was about to kill something... me probably!

I am now happy that I've managed to download (and install, so I know it works) the Poser5 Program, but first I could download (or start to!) the Hero.zip, but all I got was 1KB then the download said it was finished, when it patently wasn't.  And now I get an "Access Denied" message when I try to download it.

This is intensly irritating - has anyone else managed to download this HeroCD.zip thing???

I got it finally. One day it just started downloading, and, at my office I have a fast connection. About 20 minutes later, I had all the first one. It took a bit more than 30 minutes for the second file. It was full speed, about 60 kilobytes per second, and it went without a hitch.

Now I know it works. ddaydreams, you might give it another go.
