Please take a moment to answer the poll regarding the Site Speed at the attached link

the poll does not include : Extremely Variable : From extremely Slow to Extremely fast at random intervals.

so to be truthful, I cannot choose any of the choices which are there, since I cannot give you a correct answer and therefore help you.

for me it is as slow as it was before the change over, i think when the freebies came over to this server, that made it a permenantly slow experience!! it is too slow in the galleries too, so slow that i haven't the time to comment on people and friends work now so have turned off my own comments!! i can't stay up till 5:00am anymore commenting as it is school run season now!!

StaceyG ( ) posted Mon, 11 September 2006 at 3:42 PM

Well unfortunately I cannot edit the poll as votes have already been cast but I think the best way to answer is to go with how it is the "majority" of the time in comparsion to other sites.

Khai ( ) posted Mon, 11 September 2006 at 3:57 PM

then sorry.. my answer is useless to you. since I can get in taking 1 second... or 90. no pattern to it at all.. comparing it to the 'majority' of site is also useless since they do not have the varible factor this site has.
(the varible speed has nothing to do with users online - there can be 2000+ on and a page take 1 second to load or 900 users and take 90+ seconds. Time of Day has no effect ethier.)

Acadia ( ) posted Mon, 11 September 2006 at 4:52 PM

Yes, it is very random, but I don't ever find it "speedy"... just a variation between slow and really really slow.  Either way it's a PITA compared to other sites, so I voted "very slow".

Also, is the voting page supposed to change after you cast your vote?  I picked my choice and clicked vote, but nothing seems to happen; the page remains the same.

If you go back in I think you will see the results of the poll Acadia. Let me know if you don't, that is what I see now that I have voted.

Khai, I understand what you are saying but I do think that the site speed lately has been more slow than the fast times for me so that would justify the majority I was referring at least in my case.  Maybe you are seeing it exactly half and half, then I can see your point.

I understand what Khai is saying, it is variable for me too, but appreciate what you're trying to do.  I'm not sure that you'll get anything useful from a poll like this.  most people are going to edge on checking the slow radio button, even if the site is the same, or even slightly faster.

It's human nature to gripe and if you give us a choice, we're going to pick the worst one.   Sorry.

But saying that, it IS a lot slower than pretty much every site I vist, except maybe MySpace, but that doesn't work 50% of the time at all.  So i prefer a slow site that gets there, rather than a fast one that one works half the time.

This poll was done by the request of some members in another thread and even the wording was what they wanted to see. So hopefully it will help us to put some numbers with the issue.

deviantart was really slow when I joined earlier this year, so I quit going there. myspace is just a nightmare IMVHO. wild horses couldn't drag me in there, even if they managed to speed it up somehow

it is around 50/50 (not exactly but close enough) .. so there is no way I can answer your poll correctly and therefore help. anyother answer would give you false data... case in point. It took 2 seconds to open this forum.  30 seconds to get this thread open. but 1 second to open this reply box.

Here I was thinking you couldn't answer the site poll because the site was too slow :)  Interesting situation, for some reason it runs quickly for me about 99% of the time...

Come visit us at RenderGods.

Ignore the shooty dog thing.

Many of the issues of 'speed' I have are when I click onto a gallery pic, etc. and it 'waits' for ten to 30 seconds and THEN moves fairly decently. ONCE it decides to MOVE.

Kinda' like having a 'ferrari' that goes 150 mph but it won't START. WINK.

My best, kind soul,

TallPockets.

i think my ferrari ran out of gas, or the engine fell out, we've got four flat tyres, and have had to get out and push,it is taking a long time getting from A to B!! maybe Mahray will give me a lift so i can cruise the galleries top speed!!!

Greebo ( ) posted Wed, 13 September 2006 at 3:06 AM

Heh, I can't even see the poll, never mind actually cast a vote. I have to say, I haven't been here much since the "improvements". On the odd occasion I do come here it's slower than evolution.

Ok thanks :)  My vote obviously made it because now all I see is the results.

One thing that is missing is the time that people come here.
I mean if they cam in the day would the poll show a higher number on Renderosity is much slower than most other sites I visit?
Because I know it can be many times slower in the day here then coming here later at night.
