o.k., thx fr the link, martian. early today, I tried to get to fmorgan's mac browser page in yer marketplace (somebody asked for info) and it took 5 minutes of waiting for all the pages to load. the marketplace search function is very slow and awkward IMVHO.

I picked the last one, very slow for the following reasons:

  1. I can't load all of the thumbnails on the arrival page of the MP;
  2. Sometimes takes several minutes to open change a page;
  3. Sometimes I can't load all of the thumbnails of my  "favourite images";
  4. I frequently get SQL and sometimes other types of errors here.

it helped--a little--to turn off all the avatars, smilies, & doodahs, plus reduce the number of thumbnails displayed to the minimum.  freestuff is especially bad--you have to wait for EVERYTHING to feed in before any links will work.  javascript links are  very annoying that way.  it's a dialup nightmare sometimes.

well that poll is lame. Seriously, why compair rendo to other sites...what's the point.

edited to say I never submitted the poll cause of the inadequate options

Renderosity is a fickle beast

For me

Store - Very Slow - <30 sec page loads

Forum - Somewhat slow <15sec page loads

Gallery - never go there

free stuff - never go there

but sometimes it is screaming fast

but sometimes it is painfully slow

Not the best worded poll, that's for sure.  However, since it's only average compared to others at best and usually much slower I picked the worst option to make the point.

there is no doubt its slower than most sites I go to...I would say its slower than all of the sites I visit...most of the time.

Its just slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Why ask if every one already knows the answer.... it's slow, period. It always has been and most likely always will. Renderosity just spent $$$ to make the site even slower.

Haven't bought one item since the new system is up. The market place is so terrible slow, I avoid it completely now. Items I do like always were selected by CP also, so I get them there now and hope I don't miss out.

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

it seems that rather than the site being slow, either the DNS resolution or the server's output/generation of the pages is the problem. so, when i click on a renderosity link it churns away for about 20 seconds then bam, loads in a split second.

IMO it is the biggest problem. its also the reason that renderotica, a while back (not sure how it is now i havent been there in over a year) was suffering. the site was so slow it was an exercise in frustration to do anything there so i just avoided it.

if theres anything that will kill a site its slowness. every other problem should take a backseat to this one.

Yep, sometimes it loads in a reasonable amount of time, but mostly it's sloooooooow.

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

It is never speedy though, not in my  5 years here.  Other sites are slow but none compaired to 'rosity...I have learned to live with it though and hardly realize it.  It has also trained me in more productive surfing practices...every where I go I right click and open in new window the page I am after likeI do here :)

The marketplace slowness sure helps my impulse buying. Having to wait allows my common sense to kick in and ask " do I really need that?"

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.
