Subject: Looking for a bean/beans model now....

After your help yet again, chaps.

This time I'm after a bean model- as in a magic bean that might cause a beanstalk to grow. I'm producing an animated logo for a client, and beans have to be scattered around.

Your help is greatly, etc....

Try Laboratory 108 - there's a rice grain which would probably serve, or the edamame further down the page might be more to your (client's) liking. I have no idea what a magic bean looks like, personally, but I assume they look just like ordinary beans and give no hint to their hidden powers. ;)

you could create a sphere..stretch on one axis, bend at both ends slightly, and smooth..just a thought..

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

magic beans (faba freakensis) look just like ordinary beans with an awful lot of ridiculously complicated particle-effects attached to them. due to some negative side-effects of magical radiation they tend to have a funny smell. it is said that they grow tall in the wild.

Here's a little quickie object I just now put together in Blender. It's just an OBJ file that you can import as a prop. You may have to scale it some, after you import it, it will probably come into Poser as a fairly large object. It doesn't have a texture map; I was guessing you could just give it a solid color if the beans are going to be fairly small in the image.

Hope that's helpful,

Captain Jack

Every time I hear about beans it reminds me of the 3 stooges episode where they had been adrift for days at sea and were picked up by a Nazi raider.  Curly would freak out every time someone gave him a plate of beans to eat because all this time being lost at sea that is all he had to eat. “Beans! I’m sick of beans! I want some fried chicken smothered in turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy NOT BEANS!”  I guess you had to see the program. LOL

Wow, thanks, guys! The Poser Norimaki made my mouth water, EnglishBob, and there are a load of useful props on that link.

Captain Jack, thank you so much for the Bean model. Gosh, you must be busy. Good luck with Torchwood and finding the Doctor, or even more good luck with defeating Davy Jones and the Kraken.

I've tried squishing a sphere into shape in Poser, but magnets do my swede in.

Thanks again!

You're quite welcome.

Thank you for the well wishes. Plus, don't forget I have to spend a lot of time ruining the lives of aimless young folks (obscure Billy Joel references, anyone?)
