Finally got me a website done. Bit basic at the mo but as I get more familiar I will expand it to include more stuff. Not to happy with the graphics for it, for some reason some of the edges look rough on them so I will try to rectify that soon. Just have a look and make sure everything links as it should or give me some suggestions.

Cheers

Joe

I like the style so far. The reason you've got choppy edges is you stretched the graphic. Try this, right click on the main graphic and choose view image, it'll shrink in down to it's original size and all the stressed edges are gone. If it's possible, you can leave it at it's original size, I'm viewing at 1600x1200 and it looks plenty big enough.

Nice start,
I fought with black or white BG, finally went with white, yet my image player looks better in black. O-well

aside from the fact that i've wanted to have your babies for years now, i like the site. i can see there's still work to do, but i do like where it's headed. it's aired out and follows the style of your renders :)

Very nice & clean!

Yeah, the image on your "home" page is actually 718x358 but the placeholder for it is sized at 800x422.

Is everybody re-vamping their sites? I saw Rochr is workin' on his also.

Thankyou everyone especially for the tips on graphics. I'm hoping to evolve it into something to include some freestuff and tutorials at a later stage. Also need to get back into the swing of things regards html.

Looks great ! Only suggestion would be to add the site links on the bio page so people don't have to go back to the main page to get to the rest of the site. Your name is Joe !?!?   Orbital's name is Joe ! Sort of mundane,......mildly dissapointing. I had expected something like Ka-el or Jorgesh or something a bit more alien, you know. Might want to consider changing it.

sackrat.. ok..now what's your real name??
:tongue1:
like the site, joe. neat, concise.. and not to mention my fav color..blue! the buttons though..should be highlited more when a person is on a page..ie..if the viewer is on the bio page..the bio button is a darker or different shade..and a dead link. avoids the viewer reclicking the same link againtwice at one go...
but neat...

Orbital...

Er Joe...

Well, true it's a nice clean looking site, but me, I don't like white backgrounds - makes my eyes ache, also I don't think it does your gallery images justice, I think they would show up - show them off even, much better on a darker background.

Just my opinion, no need to pay any attention at all.

Nice and clean site, have you considered a java or flash slide show of your images rather than click on to see...

orbital ( ) posted Sun, 01 October 2006 at 4:45 AM

All in good time I hope! The fact I've actually got a site up and running is a miracle. But since doing it I've been looking at others on the web and that would be the way to go.

draculaz ( ) posted Sun, 01 October 2006 at 6:20 AM

actually i'd respectfully disagree. you get more complaints about ppl not being able to see your work from making sites with java (god no, not that, ever, it's bulky!) or flash (slightly better, no ability to save or print pages) then if you make it simple html. and the workload is pretty much the same.

(javaSCRIPT or if you HAVE to, flash)
