Subject: Commission Work

shg0816 ( ) posted Wed, 27 September 2006 at 10:44 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 5:40 AM

I have a question regarding commission work.

I asked this question at rotica, and while I should say I wasn't laughed at, I wasn't taken seriously either

Do any artists here do them? If so, how does it work? And yes, I'm willing to pay for the piece.

I also wouldn't have any problem if the artist wanted to sell it to the general public.

I can provide further details later, but I wanted to get a feeling.

Thanks

Do you want a specific image? I think that the best thing to do would be to contact artists who's work is in the style that you want, rather than ask a general question. I've done a few images to spec, as have many other Poser artists.

Not a specific image, but lets say some props, and even a character.

I tried contactingthe specific artist, again on rotica, and was basically ignored.

is it a character you want or prop?

You might also want to post this in the Jobs and Resume forum 😉

Depends on how you look at it...but both, for entirely different reasons.

I am looking for some internal organs that I can parent to V3 and M3, for a post surgery scene. One vendor on rotica had some, but that particular item was removed for various reasons.

In conjunction,  I am also looking for a morph, or "something" that would simulate the skin being folded back (like a surgical incision) in the stomach area.

These would be for a medieval "mad scientist" type scene...

Hmm.. Have you mentioned how much you were going to pay for it? And what the usage restrictions of it would be afterwards (IE can the creator sell it or is it for your eyes only)

If you want something tailored for you alone, be prepared to pay big bucks for it. We're talking around $100 here or maybe more, depending on the complexity of the model(s)

However, if it's something the creator can use as a general "for sale" item, the price would naturally be a lot lower.

So these are all things you need to make clear when you're asking for commissioned work. Many people will do it (I will, if I have the time) but not for nothing.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

To answer your questions:

  1. There would NOT be any usage restrictions on the item.  The person can certainly sell it here in Renderosity.

2.  For the character and parentable props (letting the artist sell it to others), I was thinking of about $35-$40, but I don't know if this would be a fair price, because I have never done this before.

As for a deadline, this is something I don't need right away, and can certainly wait.

I don't do 'em anymore, but the others will do 'em. I would suggest a minimum payment of $100 american for an image, and the sky's the limit for a set of poser files.

Thank you Miss Nancy,

I certainly want to be fair to both parties, and this sort of information is what I need as well
