Subject: Cynthia 3.0 by Baron Vlad Harkonnen is Here!

BorgBoy7 ( ) posted Sat, 09 September 2006 at 4:50 AM · edited Sat, 28 December 2024 at 2:11 AM

Baron Vlad Harkonnen has just posted a new freebie here in the poser free section.  My problem is this, he only puts it in exec format and I work on a MAC.  I already talked to him about his other freebies on his website and he says he does not plan to convert them to zips any time soon because most of his customers are PC owners.  The good news though is that he said it would be ok if a friend with a PC opened the exec and then converted them into a zips he would have no problem with it.  I'd really appreciate it if someone could download Cynthia 3.0 (and if your feeling really generous all the other freebies on his site) and convert it into a zip format.  Well, any takers?........

Duh' Oh!!!  I'm an idiot who can't read, what can I say.  The freebie is a utility not a model yeah yeah.  The need for the other freebies of Baron Vlad Harkonnen to be converted to zips is still there though and the call for help is still there if anyone feels like helping.

Thanks :)  I love his stuff.  Before he pulled his store here I think I bought almost everything he had in it.   He must have been quite happy when he saw that order!  LOL

I have all of his freebies I think, or most of them.  If you give me the link to his site again (lost my bookmarks), I'll go and look.  I have some time so I can convert them to .zip files.

EDIT: Found his link.  For which figures?  V3, The Girl or AIKO, or all 3?

By the way, here is the terms of use as shown in his .exe files.  Make sure you read it because if you extract the .exe you have to accept those terms first.

Also, while I know it's a freebie and freely gotten, looking at his terms he states that the package can't be shared.  I'm going to email him just to make sure it's ok to do this for you. I  don't want to find myself in hot water and accused of violating his terms.  Once I get the ok from him I'll upload them and give you the link to download the .zips, ok?

I haven't found a good tutorial on how to make a MS agent from a poser figure, nor a wide range of voice files (kids, adults, cartoonish voices, etc) Any links come into mind?

AFAIK it wouldn't do any good to convert the exe files to zips, as they may include utilities or apps that only run on windows machines. incidentally, a year or two ago, I asked vlad how he did the face on that model, and the procedure was fascinating - just how I'd do it. however, I've never seen that face at any other angle (excepting mirrored pose) or with any other expression. hence I'd be interested for any links to renders with that face using some other expression, and at various angles to the camera.

Cynthia 3 will only work on the pc.

I tried it out but it has the wizard character as the only one to use and I think the voice is called microsoft sam.

You can find all the info you need to make an agent character at the MS Agent site. Basically you have to create the individual bitmaps with a background color you can make transparent and then use the agent character editor to assemble the animations and compile them into an acs file.  Unless they have changed the specs, you have to use a 256 color palette. Most of the animations start and end at what they call the rest pose and are 8 to 12 frames long. As I said before you have to have individual image files and if I remember right they had to be in bmp format.

I originally got Poser to create an agent character. It took me a little over 2 months to get the character done. At the time it was the first female human agent character.

Does BVH sell the face INJ for the cynthia character?  It reminds me of an actress that was popular in the early 90's.

I think he has chosen to keep his V3 to himself, I know others have asked him for it. She's like his trademark :-)

That's true, I guess I will have to come up with my own TM face.

Here's the best resource I have been able to find as far as how to create one goes: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/msagent/agentstartpage_7gdh.asp

I have also just posted my first msagent charater for use with the Cynthia 3.0 program:
http://cyborspasm.freehostia.com/
There is a ink there to download it. She can talk, smile, blink, breath (occasionally) and has an arm animation. Pretty simply, but like I said, it's my first. :) She is also smaller than Cynthia, so doesnt take up as much desktop realestate.

Not to mention the fact that she is probably a V2 character, as the Baron has made things for V2 in the past.  Although it could V3 you'll never know unless you ask....

All if possible, but just The Girl stuff for now.  Also, I saw your other message about the useage and liecencing of the Barons freebies.  Yes that would definately be a good idea to check with him first before actually converting and offering them up.  When I emailed him about it before I think he meant I could go over to a friends house and extract the exec's myself onto a disk.  While I am technically doing that I am keeping in the spirit of what was asked.  If the baron says no to doing things this way I'll understand, but I think he might not mind as he just doesn't want to do the extra work of converting the files because most of his customers are PC users. So let me know when you know something.

I haven't heard back from him yet.  But in the event he gives the ok, I have already made up the zip files for all 3 figures. I'm just waiting to hear back from him.  I doubt I'll be able to do anything with that utility though.  It's a program and probably deposits files in other directories other than the installed to folder.

If you go to the forum at Planetvixens there is information in the Cynthia 3.0 threads about character creation. I made a character named Sydney after much head scratching. Once you get the hang of it, it is pretty easy. The Cynthia 3.0 program will use many different TTS voices. There is a "mary" voice that will speak in an american accent, whisper, do spacy echo voices, etc. It's on this page:

I'm still waiting to  hear something.   Does anyone know if that lycos.com email is still valid? That's the one I used.

I still haven't heard from him.  Do you have a copy of the email where he said it was ok? If so you could email me a copy of it and that should be ok.
