Subject: good things to say aboubt rendo

billy423uk ( ) posted Mon, 02 October 2006 at 7:28 PM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 12:27 AM

i thought seeing how the thread i started in c and e is pretty up in arms as far as some go, i would start a thread for people to say what they think is good about the place......i think the good points far outweigh any bad points and thats why i stay when people say "leave if you don't like it" i do like it lmao.

so i'll start the ball rolling.

it has a fantastic collection of store to choose from and a great selection of forums. as far as i can see it gives value for money (and i'm not talking about memebers fees lol) most of the stuff i see is reasonably priced....it's also a good place to get information on up and coming apps. and as much as i shout i think the people who run it are good people

billy

p.s....no negativity in this one please

I think it's great because of the people. The admins and staff have always been open and friendly, and helpful when I needed something. The friends I've made here are great, and I've gotten the best feedback about any projects I've worked on here of any art web site I've ever been to.

Oh what a refreshing thread to see Billy.

Okay here is what I love about Renderosity. All the talented, knowledgable members that make up this Community.  I love strolling through the galleries and seeing all the talent.  I love when I see members lending their knowledge to other members.

Also the vendors that make up the Marketplace are awesome.  Just watching some of the products come through, I am constantly amazed by the work .

The enormous amount of freebies put up by the members. Most of those are of a high quality, comparable to commercial items.

The quick responses to just about any question in the forums. Most of them helpful.

The tutorials by Dr. Geep and others.

The support that pours out when something bad happens to one of the members.

there's also alotta nice images in the gallery here IMVHO. one "yes" vote for geep, phil c., andi3d, les bentley, stewer and many others too numerous to mention. I ain't too worried about the battles for supremacy in C&E. there's usually plenty of folks who know the score there.

By and large with all the little growing pains, and rendo has grown since I joined for sure, this is the best community comprising many different disciplines, that I think exists anywhere, if there even is a comparable one anywhere. I know I've learned a whole lot more about many disciplines that I don't even work in, ie: photography, than I have anywhere else I stopped on the way to here. Even just going thru the what's new in the Tutorials once a month or so I always come away with a gem. Very nice thread billy, thanx for kicking this off mate....

much to many to mention.  all the galleries have something good to offer i know iv'e made use of geep and phil c was gracious enough to give me some help as well. as were some you don't see in the forums.

i don't use the freebie section of the market place section that much now i decided to try my hand at modelling but it's obvious the enjoyment people derive from giving and downloading whats on offer, specially the freebies that svdl mentione...i agree it is a good place svdl.....

i often enter a lot of the debacle threads bobby and in some, well all ways. i never really give anything back. i thought seeing as i don't upload freebies or contribute as such this would be a way of returning the curtacey of allowing me to be here. it's not a lot but it's all i ahve to offer lmao.

Yeah you speak your mind and I respect that. We don't always agree but thats okay too. That is how we all improve and make a difference here IMO

1.  People are actively discussing on the Poser forums here at Rendo.  It's probably one of the most active forums for Poser anywhere.
2.  Lots of freebies being offered by members of the community.
3.  Confidence in shopping online here.
4.  It's a big place but individuals don't get lost.

The Bryce forum, and all the people who I've met throught there.  In particular, ask a question (even the most obscure thing), and there will be dozens of people to help or experiment and find the answer.

I've also learnt a lot from the C&E forum, great to hear international perspectives :)

I have to agree with all of the above,
when I first became interested in Poser and Bryce and then Lightwave I always came here first for information,
the people in this community are always ready to lend a bit of advice to a newbie to get them going in an app,I've learned a ton of things just browsing these forums over the years.

the staff here is also great, each and everyone of them,
I've had my differences with alot of them, but those same people that I may gripe back and forth with, would in a second help with any problem I may be having without grudge,I think thats very professional.

I also think that Renderosity has the best marketplace around,
as a merchant,it is the easiest to upload to and the tools are the best around
as a customer, there is plenty of veriety and I like that you can replace a lost product without waiting for a mail to have it reactivated everytime.

Star4mation ( ) posted Tue, 03 October 2006 at 3:09 PM

What's good about R'osity? Well I've met some of the nicest artists in the world here., some have become very dear friends.

The free section is one of the best on the Web (being a poor starving artist, I rely on the huge generosity of others)

If I can't do something, someone in the forums will help me out with a smile. (and damn good advice)

And of course most importantly the ART!!!!

If it ain't free, I can't afford it.

pearce ( ) posted Tue, 03 October 2006 at 3:44 PM

Oh all right then . . . I actually enjoy the battle-royals that blow up sometimes; it shows people care about the old place 😄

I also like the way the site gives you time to get a cup of coffee and feed the cat while the page you want downloads. Not many websites would be so thoughtful :tt2: :sneaky:

bonestructure ( ) posted Tue, 03 October 2006 at 4:07 PM

I like a lot of things about rosity or I wouldn't still be here after all these years. One thing I appreciate greatly, being on dial up, is that it no longer takes like a half an hour to upload an image because of having to wait for the form to load because of the multiplicity of vendor credits it used to have. Oddly enough, I don't have the problem most people seem to have with pages loading slowly.

I like most of the admins lol.

The people, of course, though I do miss some old friends.

One of the things I like is that, having been here for years, I've seen a lot of artists grow from beginners to accomplished artists. Including me lol.

Talent is God's gift to you. Using it is your gift to God.

After all these years Renderosity is like home.  I enjoy browsing the galleries, the marketplace has lots of new "stuff" added daily and the freestuff is some of the best around.  I've made a lot of friends here, but unfortunately a lot of them have disappeared for whatever reason.  When I have a memory lapse, I can come to the forums and ask my question without seeming to stupid. :-)  I'd be lost without this place!

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Tue, 03 October 2006 at 5:29 PM

With as much time as I spend hanging around here -- I'd better like it.  😉

For me, it's:

The people
The community
The store
The forums
The galleries
The technical help
The freestuff
on and on........

Y'all are right -- the people that run this place are top-notch, nice folks.  And I speak from personal experience.

Constant, unending negativity is just odd to me.  It's an alien thing.  But negativity so often seems to be the bounding norm which defines many people's existence and world view.  And it colors all that they see.

At least a part of the problem is the "coolness" factor.  Ever since elementary school days, the "cool" crowd were always the professional snipers.  So if you want to be thought of as cool -- then you've got to be snide.  By definition -- if you aren't snide at least 95% of the time: then you are a toady.  Square.  Uncool.  And who wants to be on the outs with the self-appointed cool crowd?

(Hint: some of us revel in it.)

This is a great website.  Perfect?  Nahhhhh.  But great?  Most definitely: yes.

I have been complaining a lot about ebots, it's a pain, but I do understand 100s of thousands of them must go out a day. Also a lot of my Favs and friends have been leaving due to TOS conflicts and percieved Censorship and Favoritism, neither of which I personally have run up against, probably never will. Without a Doubt in my mind this is the Best overall Art community around the Members are outstanding Collectively and Individually, Providing an atmosphere that has allowed me to take my meager abilities to a level of Mediocriety I never believed I could achieve. I love this place!!!!

As soon as I think of something I'll let you know.

Just kidding.

Rosity is like a "virtual home" for alot people myself included. Although in my case, once you are as old and cantankerous as I am, "virtual home" might be better said by  "virtual nursing home". And they do have some really great N.V.I.T.W.S. here too.

Yeah it is true, I  groan and gripe about this or that. And sometimes quite voiciferously as well.

But hey cut me some slack, what do you really expect when the evil sith queen darth-Jumps is after you all the time trying too turn you to the dark side of the force? And you are busy trying too decide which of the new N.V.I.T.W.S. image you like the most?
