Subject: Swap Left & Right Question?

alexkuzelicki ( ) posted Mon, 09 October 2006 at 2:53 AM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 6:45 PM

Hi, Here's problem 2) for me - aside from the Copying Keyframes problem (but very similar). I make some keyframes for different parts of a character (it's actually a run cycle). Later in the animation, I want to make everything that was on the right swap to the left side and everything from the right side swap to the left (to complete the cycle). The Swap Left & Right tool seems perfect to do this... BUT... 'sometimes' it doesn't swap all the parameters. It swaps some of them but others seem to be a mix of what was already there and the new keyframes. This has got me really stumped. There's something obviously interferring with the tool doing its job but I have no idea what it may be - it's just a simple run cycle. Is there some other setting that might be the culprit? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. ALEX KUZELICKI hybrid@bigpond.net.au

Hi Pakled, Semidieu suggested this website with Python scipts. Apparently, SwapTotal does the job. http://ockhamsbungalow.com/Python/ Now, if only I knew how to use Python scripts. Ahh, so much to learn. ALEX

The big reason for Figure > Symetr's failing is becasue one side, either at the hands or feet, has or has'nt Figure > Inverse Kinematics(IK) toggled on.

For Figure > Symetry to work the IK of the both hads needs to be the same(be it On or Off,) and the same goes for the feet.

Thanks for the advice. Should have known running a python script would be that simple. I have much to learn. Thanks for your help. ALEX

Click Window > Python Script, and you'll be introduced to the Python Palette.  The buttons with "..." are blank.  You can click on one and load a script into it.  Then that button will always work just like File > Run Python Script.

Great. Thanks for that shortcut. So much to learn, so little time. Appreciated, ALEX
