Subject: Is Content Paradise website difficult to use?

MeInOhio ( ) posted Sat, 14 October 2006 at 12:54 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 11:43 PM

or is it just me not knowing my way around? I just tried to order the upgrade to Poser 7 and I am so frustrated, I feel like never going back. I put the product in my cart and said I wanted it shipped to me. Then it looked like I had to log in, so I did and then it took me to a page that shows my stuff and I wasn't sure how to get back to where I was plus it got rid of what I put in my cart apparently. And then I couldn't figure out how to get back to the main page where I could see Poser 7 to order it. Then it said I had to enter my address in my profile. It took me a little while to figure out that I had to click n the little gold word modify to get into my profile. So I entered my information and it was accepted, but I had to find my own way back to where I was. And now it insists that there are no available shipping methods to my area. That should come as a surprise to UPS, FedEx and the USPS and everyone else that seems to deliver here. What? Aren't you allowed to get a physical shipment? I don't see where it says that. If so, then why do they even give you the option?

I left the website and went back thinking that maybe my information hadn't updated yet. But that didn't help either.

I've gone back and checked my profile several times now and it's correct. It's where I live. And it wasn't easy figuring out how to get back to my profile either. I had to click on my login name.

it just takes getting used to. I had something similar happen with Poser 5; I was so concerned I was going to miss the deadline, that I wound up with 3 'orders'. Log in first (always), then look on the left hand column for something that says 'my stuff' , used to be a cube of some sort as an icon.

If you go here, it will have both everything you downloaded in the past, and whatever you've just signed up for. Since I hit the freebies heavily, it's a long list. When the pre-existing pre-release term is over, you should be able to download it then. If not, check with the staff there.

Finally, I noticed that when I got 5, there was a serial number or somesuch on the order. It was a bout 2/3rds of the way down. Record that, write it down, or save it somewhere, because a day will come when you need it (reloading to a new system, or crashed hard drive, etc. I have all my serial numbers recorded..;)

Thanks.

I went back to the site and now that I figured out how to log out. (It wasn't obvious to me) I figured I was on my way. I logged back in and I had shipping options. So now I click on checkout and I get this message:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected ',' in /data/httpd/www.contentparadise.com/user/checkout.php on line 101

I've clicked on the link 4 times now with the same result. It hasn't asked me for any credit card information, so I don't think I've ordered anything, so unless it's storing my info from another order...

@MeInOhio, if you PM krazik who knows all about the CP site, he will help you out quickly.

I have been using the web site for a while - I tried to order it today and it had all sorts of problems with my address. . . that was frustrating so I left as well without ordering it. I have been at the same address since I am a member there.

I have a very high powered computer and I often have trouble with the thumbnails in the store pages.

That is my experience.

ever since they changed the design it has become slower.  And yes lately they seem to be having a problem with order processing - i suppose mainly because of P7 preorders?

Maybe you should wait a month or so! You might get a better deal on P7 then :)

No, it's not just you.  Next to Micro Soft's site, CP is the most confusing site I've ever been too.  I like user friendly sites and rarely go to CP because I find it not very user friendly.  I wish they would change their design to make it more streamlined and easier to maneuver around.

I find CP simply annoying since they changed to the new "eyecandy" look, and the last time I tried to order something it wouldn't accept my credit card (I was fortunately able to buy the product elsewhere, with no problems), so anything that I have to go through CP to get, I won't be getting.

Truthfully, the only thing I go there for is the P6 freebie, I dislike the mere look of the site enough to stay away otherwise.

The CP site isn't too bad compared to others I've seen, it's just that it's so slooooowwwwww because of all the bright shiny stuff (mostly Flash movies, I think) cluttering up the splash page, and making the product pages (for me, at least) a bit of an ordeal. If they'd just use still images, the whole thing would have a smaller bandwidth drain and load faster, and most likely load more reliably.

About the login/logout process: yes, this is (after the recent redesign) one of the least obvious and intuitive sites I've ever seen, and in that I include several Japanese sites that needed a while playing around with Babelfish to figure out. It's terrible!  👎

BTW, I found myself unable to check out last night. Clicked on the green button and got an error message. Anyone else having problems?

The CP site degenerated into a playground for code monkeys some time ago. I've pretty much abandoned it, except to check occasionally for freebies and run the New Release summary. And lately even doing that has become buggy and tedious.

Well, it just worked for me now. I was able to complete my order.

Just wanted to say that I don't mean to trash anybody's hard work. It just annoyed me that it was so hard to place an order. I do think that they could make it a little more obvious on what to click on. Like modifying your profile and how to log out, and maybe a home link so when you get terribly lost when you're new to a site.

Heck, I bought the G2 men last week and it wasn't obvious to me what to click on to get to the bundle they were offering. I had stumbled across the bundle during one of my vists while I was debating whether to buy them or not. Some of the links took me to pages about the G2 men, but the bundle wasn't on them. And then when I found them, left clicking didn't work for me. I had to right click on the picture to get the details page to open. Not sure why that is. Maybe because Norton stops pop ups?

Anyway,...I'm happy now. I placed my order.

I had all the above problems when I tried to order, and I finally found a solution.  I disabled Windows Firewall... AND most importantly, I enabled cookies from http://www.e-frontier.com.  Go to IE, click Tools and then Internet Options.  Click the Privacy tab, and then click **Sites. ** In Address of Website, type in the above e-frontier address.  Then click **Allow. ** Doing all that solved every problem for me, and my order went right through.  Also, they will not ship to PO Boxes, you need a street address.  Hope all this helps.
