I had to chuckle about this. In response to the initial post, this really is an issue of personal favorites and subjective opinions. Each figure has their good and bad points, and their fans and detractors. It up to your own personal taste. While I certainly agree that making the most of free items before spending your hard own money, the consumer focus is primarity on the DAZ figures and has been for quite some time. With some of the new figures put out by eFrontier like Miki and Yuki and the G2 males, that may change at some point.

I tend to use whatever figures get the job done. What separates one figure from the next in the area of "beauty" is your own skill and ability. It doesn't matter if you're using Posette or Vicky or Jessie or any other figure, if you have the skill you can make people drool over your renders using whatever figure you choose. Personally, I would discount the opinion of anyone with extreme views one way or the other about any figure. What you're really getting is a biased view and that isn't going to help you make a informed decision.

You're best bet is to browse the galleries here and at other sites and see what people are doing with various figures. Many of them list the figure, the morphs, poses, clothing, hair, textures and whatever they used to create the finished render. Email or IM the artist and ask questions about the products or freebies they've used. Browse freestuff to find what might be useful and try it out. Browse the marketplaces for the products you've seen used. There's no magic to it, just approach it they way you would any other product...but don't buy on impulse, that frequently ends in disappointment.

Everyone has their own opinions for whom is the best character, and asking who/which is the best, is asking for trouble. V3 seemed to be taking the lead, and I have found my best skin texture characters in the mp. Took alot, but I found it. Later on people will be going onto other characters other than V3 from DAZ. I am on that route.

TamelaJ, ExpressnImg, Thorne&Sarsa, Dalinise,Rhiannon, shesa and Morris have produced very high quality textures for v3. You can also use face_off's Real Skin Shader or the Unimesh/Poser Realism Kit to enhance renders.

as for preferences, SP3 and David as well as Koji G1 (no longer available as he has been replaced by the G2 version) for me.

If you MUST spend your money, then get the DAZ UTC (Universal Texture Converter) so that you can trade skin textures back and forth between V3 and V2, Judy, Neja, MIck's 1,2,3, Stephanie, Aiko, etc.  (There are several very CUTE characters already made for Judey, HERE in Freestuff, and all of P4 Posette's free headmorphs work with Neja
Just my own opinion, and worth about as much.  But in light of the old axiom, don't go marrying a woman who's a tramp, and don't go paying good money for what you may already have for free!

Where can the Neja character be found?

I love Danae's Manhattan texture, so versatile.  My only complaint is the skull cap, can't make her a bald chick.

Been using V3 for awhile, and there are a lot of textures available. Just tried Judy last night, and you could put yer eye out with that chin..;)

I'm sure most of the experienced around here know this;  if you select the eyes, object, point at, then the Main camera, it can work to give you a good eye setting. It works most times..;)
At least with V3. Judy, for some reason, this didn't work. I had to manually position them, and didn't get it comepletely right (she's a distant ancestor of Marty Feldman..;).

Try the free ones first (as mentioned previously), and if you like what you see, head for the Marketplace. I have used one set of V3 textures, but it also does things like color the lips the same color as the skin, remove any eyelashes and brows..sigh...it's always something.

PS: When I get a little more proficient with Anim8or, I'm thinking of making that perfect hybrid clone, ie Judy's body cloned with V3's head.  Maybe I'll call her WiktoriJa.
