I've been browsing the many GREAT entries & though I still have more to go through, I haven't found any with exstensive text added to them.

Do they only want images?
Or can a Scene have a small paragraph of text or is it limited to titles?

Many Thanks.

Scott

Oh dear, my apologies, I didn't get my ebots about these posts and just saw them.

Yes, photography will be accepted.

You may use text. Entirely up to you.

Best of luck,
Lillian

I just received the following email from a judge:

"Hello, Previous attempts to contact you have failed. This is a final note letting you know that your Halloween Contest Entry needs to be revised and reuploaded by Oct.31st 11:59 PM Renderosity time, if you intend to do so. Thank You. Jumpstartme2 Renderosity Contest Manager/Judge "

I hadn't received any emails indicating a problem with my entry until this point, so i don't know what "previous attempts" is referring to.  And I'd be happy to revise and re-upload my image, except that I don't know what the specific problem is with it.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Hi JoBrien,

I'll alert Jumpstartme2 and see if we can get you the specifics on what needs to be revised.

My apology for any confusion. Not sure why you didn't receive the previous notifications.

Thanks Lillian.  Jani's since gotten back to me and we've sorted out what the issue is.  I'm making adjustments for the contest and resubmitting hopefully today.  Cheers.

I was trying to determine how much time I have left to tweak my second entry and I noticed that the submission times are different (and there is an error in one of the dates.)  They read:

  • Contest Closes: Tuesday, October 31st, 2006 at 12:00p.m. [noon] (CST Renderosity Server Time).
  • Entries MUST be timestamped by Wednesday, October 31st, 2006 at 11:59p.m. [1 minute before the "Witching Hour"!], or cannot be accepted.
  • Does the contest close Tuesday at Noon?

LillianH ( ) posted Mon, 30 October 2006 at 10:48 AM

I'll go fix that. It should be Tuesday, October 31st.

Thanks,
Lillian

at Noon or at Midnight? :)  One says 12:00pm (Noon) and the other says 11:59PM, which would be one minute to midnight.

LillianH ( ) posted Mon, 30 October 2006 at 11:44 AM

That's been updated now as well.

Had to be Midnight ;-)

the front page of 'rosity and the first post here still show the end date for the contest as Wed Oct 31... and should be Tues... unless spooks have gotten into the code and messed it up..grin

I posted an entry on Saturday and after it was approved went to check it out. After clicking on the thumbnail icon my art shows up scaled down but Not proportionately. The full size view is correct though. My art is 1024 x 640, a 4 x 2.5 ratio. In the normal view, the art looks square. Does software automatically scale the pictures down? Has anyone else noticed this with their pictures? I wonder if this happens with art in galleries also? I contacted a contest moderator and he said that judges check the full size versions. As an artist, it does bug me seeing the art stretched vertically, though. -thanks, Perry

When I click on the link for the Halloween Contest I get a message ' You don't have permission to do this." How do I get to the Halloween contest to view the entries? I can't find it in the contest links in the menu either.

Jumpstartme2 ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 8:33 AM

The contest is closed and still in pending status, so we can do last minute reviews of the entries..once it moves to the judging phase, members will be able to see the images. This should happen either sometime tonight, or possibly tomorrow. 😄

Okay, thanks.

Jumpstartme2 ( ) posted Fri, 03 November 2006 at 12:23 PM

Your welcome :)

@Perry,

I guess the software could possibly be scaling the first image after the thumb down, but as the judge you spoke to said, the judges will indeed be looking at the full size images, not the scaled down version to base their decision on.

As for the images in the gallery, the member who uploads has a choice of how they prefer their artwork will be viewed, either the scaled down version, or full size.. however, the viewer also has the choice of how they want to view all gallery images..some choose to view them all fullsize, but then there are a few whom I would imagine,  have slower computer systems or dialup, they would prefer to see images scaled down.

Hope that helps 😄
