I have been using "3D Home Architect Home SE 7" Rather long name isn't it? What I have found is that after quite a lot of work it is possible to make scenes as soon as you have the know how. When I convert I end up with all the textures missing. So I started making my own useing "The Gimp".

Took me quite some time to work out how to go about it. It also took some help from the Martian Manhunter. Thanks a lot =)

I made this image some time ago. I have been planning on making a adventure game and using poser along with many other programs. Been doing a good job of keeping costs down too.

So I thought that I would share with you all what I have done so far.

This image has some errors and I didn't set up the scene to allow curves.. In any event I would like to know what you all think and mostly if you have any advice for me? Anything at all really.

looks good.

personally, i would have blurred the nearest hanging light some to provide some depth of focus. that light looks too sharp.

Well done.
Had the same idea once and bought Punch Super Home Suite, but gave up.
Do you bring stuff into Poser or import charcters into Home Architect? If so, how so?

I have the Better Homes and Gardens software, I have never thought of using it in this way. Looks good.

The modeling looks great, but I would definitely use a different texture on the cabinets.

3d Home Architect can export 3ds models which you then import into Poser (something that Punch can't do, BTW).

Seems the reply I wrote up didn't get posted for some reason.

Here goes. Thanks for the comments.

I have tried just about everything as far as home design software goes but the only program I found that can export to Poser is 3d home. Thanks to some help from the man Hunter and UVdan I learned how to export to poser.

1: Export 3ds from 3d home
2 Import into poser and export as a OBJ
3: Give the OBJ UV data via UVmapper Classic(or pro) !!!USE THE "SCALE" OPTION!!!
4 load the OBj into poser and click Wield Identical Polygons together.
5: Give everything textures in poser and set up the lights.

its a bit of a work around but I have shown it can be done.

UVdan I was hoping I could pass that texture off.... seems I can't lol. Well its good to know.

If some one has a good seamless wood texture or two I would love to have them =)

----Edit-----
One last thing. I picked up 3d home at walmart for under 10 bucks. I think it was worth it.
For other Objects you can inport 3ds files into 3d home or into poser(allow you to move them about) you can likley find SOMETHING at Turbosquid for free. Provided you can access the file type. Too many MAX only file formats there or C4d or what have you.

HAPPY RENDERING EVERYONE!!

very cool...by the way what's the polygon count like?

Lord_Garland ( ) posted Sat, 04 November 2006 at 2:55 PM

I do not know what the poloy cout is. But I would say it is rather low. 3d home can run on very old computers.

elenorcoli ( ) posted Fri, 10 November 2006 at 10:33 PM

excellent.  seems like a lot of environments offered in marketplace are pretty (unneccessarily) high poly.

Question for you Tagavoga, did 3d Home Architect export that kitchen the way it is, fully 3D?. I grabbed the 3.0 version of Home Architect years ago out of the discount bin and it only exports the floor plan in .dxf. If 7.0 does what I'm seeing in this render, I'm grabbing it.**

They added the 3ds export feature in version 6

It should be noted that I used my own textures for that room.  I guess I should upload one of my newer pics.

I used all my own textures made using "the Gimp" for that scene. Some times you get black areas as seen in the picture that can not be removed by anyway I know of.

I should write up a tutorial on how to use 3d home as a scene builder. I have it almost worked out as a science at this point.

Anywhere I can host a tutorial?

Poser users can also buy Shade 8.5 for $99.99, which, of course can export directly into Poser and also import from Poser via Poser Fusion. Shade 8.5 comes with close to 1,000 high quality objects and unlike Home Designer, Shade has one of the best renderers in the industry, including raytracing, radiosity, Calisto, distributed rendering and much more....

I thought that  you couldn't distribute models created in 3D Architect, did that change or I am I confusing that with one of the other multitudes of 3D architect programs we went through?

Then again if you aren't distributing it's amoot point...
