Subject: My Final Guesses on Poser 7

tebop ( ) posted Mon, 13 November 2006 at 1:42 AM · edited Thu, 21 November 2024 at 12:46 PM

Let me give you a couple of guesses b ased on the previews in e-frontier 1. CONTENT. They claim there's alot of content included. Well guess what, ? that's exactly what they said in poser 5. in fact there is an APPLICATION CD and a CONTENT CD.. and the CONTENT CD has nothing but crap. so i guess it will be just like this for poser 7 2. Lipsyncing: that sounds good. Really good. I hate gonig to Mimic 3 and then having to come back and restart Poser 5 3. Multiple UNDOS. Just look at the animation that pops up if you click , and it shows you about the way you can undo alot. Great, but what i'm looking at is at the figures they displayed in the sample images. And at the knees, cause he has the knees kind of bent when he is in the floor, and NOTICE how they didn't make him have fully bent knees...IT SEEMS LIKE ON PURPOSE CAUSE THEY DN"T WANT TO SHOW US THE TRUTH.. That gives me the impression that just like poser 4 5 6, the joints bending will be bad and unrealistic. 4. Rendering & HDRI: Look sgreat.. but they mention Firefly... firefly in poser 5 was so slow and it looked worse than the poser 4 renderer option. Also they claim rendering is faster...but i don't trust that. if it's much better looking how can it be faster? and i'm sure if it's faster it will be faster on high end systems. 5. Animation Layers: the feauture sounds useful and good. But then again, i look at the preview graphic of the figure waving...and it looks cheap with some really unrealistic lights to begin with. look also at the bent arm, the joints look like if they were bent just a tad bit more, they would look like your usual p4, p5, p6 bent joint. he he he, Also let me comment on the car graphic at the front page of Poser 7 in e-frontier, it actually looks cheap. Were they tryign to impress us with that scene? It looks like it was done in Vue with the least realistic lighting. come on, if they are promoting poser 7' s HDRI capabilitiesi at least light it up with HDRI.

lol, you are probably right. The content guess could not be anymore likely. But I thought this post was going to be about the next few reasons to buy poser 7. Do you have any guesses?

Dear Tebop,
Give it a rest already, will you.  You're in danger of becoming more of a nudge than I'm known to be; and that's a truly remarkable achievement.  I didn't find the P5 content to be crap at all.  One shouldn't prejudge the soup before it's tasted.  Give it a chance first; and no, not everything in life is some grand conspiriacy, the P7's default guy's knee's included.
I remain, respectfully yours,
David P. Hoadley

No one is forcing anyone to buy it. I personally, couldn't care less about a casino, etc, so I didn't preorder. I'll just wait until some bugs are worked out, maybe until Sr1 or 2. I still have fun in 6, and it doesn't make me mad. Why would i get mad about a program that's not out yet, or be mad once it is here? It takes so much less energy to be happy! Yay Monday!

ps. I faked that Yay Monday bit. Could you tell? ;-)

The renderer will be multi threaded, which means that if you are running a multi core system your rendering will be faster. You would have known this had you actually read the text on E-frontiers homepage, it's quite clearly stated.

Quote - Reason 4. Render up to four times faster with Multi-threaded Rendering on machines with multiple CPUs. FireFly takes advantage of the processing power of the multi-core and multi-processor systems available on the market by rendering on up to four threads simultaneously. This optimization results in much shorter render times for most scenes.

Ok, i dont understand this. you seem to have decided to get P7 yet you decline to purchace it until they are no longer offering free content with it?

I can understand you dont see anything in the content that you feel you need, but this is not stuff that will ever be offered again. maybe there isnt anything you will use but if you don't get it now you'll never have the option of picking it up later.

to me free content is not a reason to buy poser 7, but if your going to buy it anyway, it is a good reason to buy it now. You dont have to install the content if you dont want to and if you want to wait for sr1 or sr2 you don't even have to install p7.

No, I am waiting to see if I like the results from P7 that I see in the galleries. So far, the reasons they have given have not made me want it. I have other programs for most of the things they mention, and I don't have a dual-core processor. The undo thing never bothered me, probably becuase I save so often.  I am happy to wait :-)

What bothers me sooooo much with P5 in macos x is that it lags so much and you see the beachball spinning quite often. Hate it. Even P4 was faster

I bought the limited edition of Poser 6 with the Winter Queen, which I have never used and couldn't get the hang of the edition of Shade that came with it. I'm still using the 3d program that I used before. I wish that I had waited until the edition with Miki had come out. Much more useful, and I know of others who thought exactly the same. There's nothing wrong with waiting until some of the bugs get fixed. They may release another edition, they may not, but it's nice to be able to run the program on your computer without having to wait for an update so that it will.

I think that one of the two remaining features will be the tools that allow you to create moles scars etc. This has been mentioned in the new edition of 3D World. Who knows what the other will be? If it's better than the animation layers, it could be a doozy!

P5 sucked. P6 is better on the Mac. Just so you know. I hated the lags and slow downs but most of it went away on P6. It is still slower than P4 but nowhere near as bad as P5.

I think that when you see it, you'll think of Doc Oct's line in Spider Man II, "Ladies and Gentlemen, Fasten your seatbelts!" I think its gonna kick butt. --( ( |--

Simply because one day EF will offer a much better deal for P7. They did so with P6. I was dumb enough to pre-order, only to see a much better deal emerging wehn P6 was released. I have yet to use the extra stuff that came with P6. Also the one time content offer that comes with P7 is so un-appealing to me, that I don't even want to have it, I don't need more unusable junk in my runtimes, not even when it's free.

but if your going to buy it anyway, it is a good reason to buy it now.

Based on the past behaviour of EF, there are many more reasons not to buy it now. Soon we will see EF offering something really worthwhile with P7 and then I'll get it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't rush to preorder (and then complain when it gets here!) LOL.
