  1. only if you are making content for distribution and want to set it up and test it for the very small portion of the user base that can't or won't upgrade.

  2. poser 5 and 6 can both be installed in the same machine. they do not (by default) install anything in the same directory.

Right now I have Poser 4, Poser 5 and Poser 6 all installed on the same drive partition with no problems since they each install to their own directories.  As soon as my Poser 7 arrives I'll be deleting my Poser 4 since I won't be supporting Poser 4 in my products any longer.

1: No, there is nothing P4 can do that P6 can't do better (P6 is even better at taking up your time rendering :P).

2: Don't install P5 after P6. Install it in order of release and there shouldn't be any problems.

Different versions of Poser: the installer gives you an option on the directory to install into, As I recall, the defaults are different, and you can change them as you wish. About the only thing affectes by the order of installation is the version of Poser Windows will try to open a file in. Poser is remarkably well-behaved in this,

In a word: nope.

P4 is currently in the process of gradually withering on the vine.  It's taking a while for the last vestiges to dry up -- but it's getting there.  The release of P7 should help to drive yet another nail into P4's coffin.

In a bit, we should be able to build a memorial to the memory of P4.  It was a very good thing -- back in its day.

I have P4, P5 and P6 all installed on the same drive and soon P7. I installed P5 about 10 months after P6 and have not had any problems. I'm like others, I have all the versions installed for testing of my Freebies or Commercial products.

I too will probably drop support for P4, since so many picked up the free version of P5.
