She looks pretty awesome. http://www.daz3d.com/pages/victoria2/V2loops/lightmap/face.html http://www.daz3d.com/pages/victoria2/V2loops/medmap/face.html

Yes, its "Final Fantasy" time...

Everything looks great but the eyelashes are the only things that still look really fake. Why can't they increase the resolution of the eyelash geometry so that they actually curl without these angular bends to the lashes?

rtamesis ( ) posted Fri, 27 April 2001 at 5:10 PM

Looks like they've greated a more realistic skin bump map for her.

whoopdat ( ) posted Fri, 27 April 2001 at 5:39 PM

I don't have Vicky now, but I may have to think about getting her when 2.0 is done. I missed the sale on everything for the grand opening, so I hope they do some sort of sale on her again.

Oh my goodness, she looks sooooo fantastic! I only hope the price is reasonable and that they have an upgrade plan for those who have purchased Victoria. I just got Vicky and Mike last week :)

I'm confused. The geometry in both pictures is identical (look at the point on the flesh of the thumb on the hand page), so I'm guessing this is merely a comparison of two texture maps, not Vicky1 versus Vicky2's geometries. Personally, I'm not impressed with seeing the Ground texture applied as a skin bump map.It looks worse, IMHO, than just a straight texture, and it certainly doesn't look more like real skin closeup.

The high rez and standard rez texture maps are now available at the DaZ store, where they have more details posted.

a take out a home loan to buy them AND the computer upgrade. this is then recommendations DAZ maks.. Note: for optimum use be sure to go through the readme file after you install the maps. Gear up on ram and processing speed. We recommend 256 megs ram and 700 mhz or higher processor to use the high res maps

Thanks everyone for your comments about the new maps. We have really worked very hard on these (Photoshoot, Photoshop, Deep Paint, and a lot of late nights). We wanted to release these prior to Victoria 2 so that people could play around with them before she was finished. Maybe I can address a few of the question in the post. The images on the store show the bump maps at full intensity to emphasize the detail (They can be dialed back to give a less bumpy look if prefered). As for the system requirements, this is the reason that we offered them in both high and standard versions. The standard resolution maps are roughly the same resolution as the previous Victoria and Michael Maps as well as most maps others have created for them. I imagine that people with slower systems may want to buy the high res maps anyway and size them down to whatever resolution will work best for their systems and needs. As for Victoria 2.0 we are hoping that we are really close. Thats what a few of us are are working on while I write this (10:00 PM Friday night) and I expect we will be here for a while longer tonight. We have really put all that we can into creating her, in fact, we estimate that we have spent significantly more time on her than on version 1. We will have upgrade pricing for Victoria 2.0 but we have not annouced what it will be yet. The non-upgrade price will be $59.95 (the same as Victoria 1 is now). We will also have introductory pricing for the upgrades. I have to get back to Victoria 2.0. Sincerely, Dan Farr P.S. The comparison images used on the product pages are comparing the differences in the two resolutions on the same model.

I just bought the standard resolution med set and I have to say if this is any indication of what Vicki2 is going to be like Ill be there on day one. The maps are excellent and they really change the way the whole texturing process is done. Took me a second to figure out what was going on because I am used to it the old way, but you can change lips/eyes and tone of the skin with a simple pose setting as well as load the maps this way too. Im thrilled with the purchase.

Thanks for the clarification, Dan.

BAM ( ) posted Sat, 28 April 2001 at 9:23 AM

Dan, Please don't tell us that the delay in V2 is because you are working on a copy protection scheme that requires her to phone home after we take her out on dates more than 3 times!!! This is a very big {;^)

danfarr ( ) posted Sat, 28 April 2001 at 11:28 AM

Bam, The truth is that we significantly underestimated the development time as well as we continue to add more capabilities. This may not always be the best business decision but hopefully it will be a much better product when its done and everyone will be happy with her. If people are happy with her then it will have been a decision well worth the extra time. Dan

BAM ( ) posted Sat, 28 April 2001 at 1:31 PM

Ahhhh, you've set quite a standard for yourself...trying to please the people around here ... She's pretty, she's ugly, She's voluptuous, she's flat. She's fat, she's thin, She takes up too much space, she's not detailed enough. She's too tall, she's too short. She's too old, she's too young. Her fingers are too long, her fingers are too stubby. She looks like no one, she looks like everyone. She took too long to appear, she's buggy. She's too expensive, I'd of paid more if she was better. The clothes don't fit, she has clothes? She needs genetilia, that's disgusting. It's a she, not a him.

danfarr ( ) posted Sat, 28 April 2001 at 10:21 PM

Aha BAM, Now you know why its taking us so long. We really have put in a lot of morphs that adds a tremendous amount of versatility. If shes too fat, people can spin the dial, if shes too thin, they can spin it again, too old, too young... I am just excited to see the huge variety of characters people will create using her. Although we realize that you can't please all the people all of time, we are trying to get as close as we possibly can. Dan Farr

Just remember this time that aging is more than wrinkles, it's the slackening of the facial underpinnings, jaw shrinkage and more prominence of the bones. Go check my latest Posette morph, "Milky," to get an idea of what I'm talking about.
