Subject: Convert P6 Materials to P5

nemonico ( ) posted Sat, 18 November 2006 at 5:27 AM · edited Sat, 21 September 2024 at 6:31 AM

Hello...
I have buyed some props in Contentparadise. When I see "For Poser6" i think that is better use the props with poser 6 but will work on poser 5 o Daz Studio. What I deception when i see they have no "MAT Files" in the "Pose" section, just materials in P6 format and the models came whitout any default texture aplied.

Is there a way to convert our use the P6 materials in Poser 5 or i wasted my money and i have to apllied all the texture in manual mode (such a hell!!!)

Thanks for help

If the materials are supplied as MT5 files, then just goto the Material room and apply them.
As P6 added/changed some nodes then there is a chance that they won't work, but only if they use one of the new nodes / settings.

If the files are MC6, then I believe it's possible to convert them to MAT poses with a text editor :-
Change the version number to 5.
Replace "mtlCollection" with "figure".
Change the extension to PZ2 and move to a subdirectory of the Pose directory.

There is no way to convert node based materials for D|S.

One other option is to buy QuickMat, available in the marketplace, apply the textures and save the pose files.  If it's a texture I know I'm going to use again, that's what I do and QuickMat supports P5 material nodes.  I'm sure Hogwarden is working on an upgrade to support the P6 material nodes as we speak.
