Found this site. Lots of different types of guns under "3D Models"

just checked a few, but it looks like all of them are 3ds .max format. Which unless (someone correct me, please..;) I'm mistaken, can only be converted in 3ds Max. But I only checked a few.

But hey, if they can be converted, this is a real find..

You are correct, .MAX files can only be opened/converted if you have 3DSMax installed.

Sorry :(  I didn't look at the extensions, just the site contents.  My apologies for getting peoples' hopes up :(

You can always download and install the 3DS Max Demo. It's time-limited, and some models can't be converted, but the demo is fully functional.

Not ALL the files are in Max format, there are some 3ds files too. Your chance to get a high-res trumpet.

Actually, if you have a bunch of Max files, you should seriously consider the 30 day free trial for 3D Studio Max.  Years ago this is what I used to convince my employer to buy the program! lol.  Seriously, though, it is fully functional and all you have to do is open your max file and then export it as a format you can use.  Since it it s the latest version of Max, you should have no problem with older files.
