Subject: Desperately seeking lemur

Corbie ( ) posted Sun, 26 November 2006 at 12:48 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 7:43 AM

Hi all, I'm hoping someone here will know where I can find a realistic, posable lemur for Poser for a project I'm working on. I'm aware of the toon lemur at DAZ, but I haven't been able to find a realistic one. Any help is appreciated!

I've checked Mystic Nights data base and unfortunately it seems that you are the only "lemur" that he's going to get :)

I live in Madagascar.  Here's a couple of different types of lemurs, that you don't see as often.  The one my husband is petting is the softest, most gentle lemur I've seen.  The most commonly seen lemurs are the ring-tailed ones like in CaptainJack1's photo.

I wonder if the Silverkey monkey could be adapted to look like a lemur? Perhaps with Little_dragon's bushy tail?

(yes I KNOW lemurs aren't monkeys (or vice versa) but they do resemble each other to some degree)

And wow.. Are those wild lemurs, Cookienose? I've always loved lemurs, Kattas especially. They look so fun. And pretty.

Well, those particular lemurs live in a game park; so they are sort of tamed.  They are used to people, but still not too sure about it.  However, they will do anything for a banana, including sit on your shoulder. :) I think the Silverkey monkey could be modified enough to look like a reasonable lemur.

Kattas are the prettiest :) Wow, that must be pretty awesome to live so close to such fascinating creatures.

Thanks for the suggestions for the Silverkey monkey...my modification skills aren't all that great, but I'll play around and see what I can come up with. :-)

CaptainJack1 ( ) posted Mon, 27 November 2006 at 11:59 AM

Come to think of it, you could probably modify a raccoon model (with some re-texturing) to look like the ring-tailed variety. Make the head a bit smaller, tail much longer, and it'd be pretty close.

That, of course, isn't really helpful because I don't know where any raccoon models are either.

There's a raccoon character for P3 cat at Capsces' site, but I have no idea where did I get the texture for it (Capsces character is a morph only). I'll dig through my archives and see if there's any readme.

I played around last night for about a half an hour with trying to create a lemur morph for the Poser cat (I'm using P6, but I think it's the same mesh) but I couldn't get anything that looked good, so I just kept quiet about it. 😄

I have the raccoon character from Capsces...will play with that some, too. :-) So far my attempts with the Silverkey monkey look more like a mutant alien monkey than a lemur, lol.

How close would the Meerkat from Daz work with LD's bushy tail?

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

That might be the closest thing so far. I'll pick it up when my December voucher shows up and see what I can do with it. :-) Thanks for the suggestion!
