In Illustrator auto-trace works pretty well with this image. You need to set the tolerance to as low as possible (1 pt) then click each letter in turn with the auto-trace tool. You do need to click close to the edge of each letter, and also click the inner circle of the 'O'.The tool will automatically create paths for each letter. Here's the result I got:
You can see that there would be a need to tidy the paths slightly, especially on the 'Y' but it's not bad. If you want the Illustrator file with the traced logo above, see the link (file is about 400k). The logo is, of course, copyright of Sony.

simple question, more towards illustrator i believe then photoshop but im sure someone here can help me. i want to turn the outline of this logo ....... into paths so i can import it into a cad program. anyone know a easy way instead of tracing using the pen? i know in illustrator theres trace but i cant get it to turn the outline into vectors =
