I feel like a newbie asking this, but OK, I give up. There was an "ocean/dune tile" thread some time ago that got me started on using boxes and the wave generator, but it just doesn't look like the waves/ripples I see in other people's renders. I've used (and even sent other people to) the tutorial on the wave generator. I've tried the wave generator, and can make nice wind effects on hair, water, clothes, etc., but I cannot make reasonable looking ripples/wavelets in water. Help Please? GrayMare

The wave deformer (used wrong name initially) is in item on your "object" menu bar. (Object/Spawn Wave) The best (only??) tutorial I've found is on the poseworks site: http://poseworks.8m.com/. Go to the tutorial section; the tutorial is called "making waves". There's also a good tutorial on creating texture maps. If you figure out how to make little ripples instead of smooth, gradual waves, let me know please :) GrayMare

heyas; if i recall correctly, the wave deformer actually IS a circular ripple. try shrinking it down (experiment on the ground plane), and then making the frequency very low.
