Subject: Hair for V4

Nosiferret ( ) posted Wed, 06 December 2006 at 12:30 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 3:33 AM

Quarker has just released a new hair item for the soon to be released Vic4 at Daz. Looks like a cross between SapphireFox and Slinky Hair, not a lot of poof that SF had. 40 bucks alone [after PC discounts] to get the hair and the 2 texture releases..think I might wait....spent some $$ at Xurges sale...he's having a 50% off all his items thru to the end of December if anyone is interested :)

Where did you see this?  I can't find anything on the DAZ website, or was it here?  Gimme a link...gotta see it!!  please

WHoa....  I've seen the V4 pics in the above promo and also the platinum club pics...  V4 is a stunner!  Much better looking than I thought she'd be.  I'm gonna git her!  Yee haw!

Oh... That hair gives you facial previews of v4:

Looks like her default face.

And if you don't think that woman looks real, I'll have to start spamming Renderosity with the same BoA photos I tossed at Daz the other day...

It does stretch if for a caucasian face, which is usually a lot more lined, but if that head had an asian skin tone and hair color I wouldn't even bat an eye.

Oooooooo!!  Nice looking hair!  My poor credit card...I can see my debt level rising already.  I love this hobby and hate it at the same time! hehehehe

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 06 December 2006 at 1:07 PM

I saw that.  Nice hair, but at that price, I'll probably pass for now.

They're trying to kill us, with Vue 6, Poser 7, Victoria 4 all coming out at the same time.  Not to mention RDNA's big sale that just ended.

Now that I look longer...

--- I'm guessing here on one of those products, as the marvelous realism add-on -could- be V4, but it looks a little different, almost Aiko-ish. The main hair however, that looks like v4.

V4 can look a lot like Aiko from certain angles and lighting... :)

I've got a personal theory (no longer personal now that I'm posting it) that V4 could really be seen not as Vicky 4, but as 'Aiko Realistic revised'.

  • Several people have noted that similarity, some saying things like 'She looks like Aiko realistic, with all the remaining toon stripped out.'

Promo pics for hair products would not be my way to introduce a new mesh like V4. All the secrecy and then this... Whatever.

Just show me the "add to cart" button.

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 06 December 2006 at 1:46 PM

The new quarker hair only fits V4. The add-on package includes fits for a bunch of characters:

  • Laura/Luke
  • Maddie/Matt
  • Preschooler
  • Preteen
  • The GIRL
  • Keiko
  • Hiro
  • David
  • Jessi
  • Michael 3
  • Michael 2
  • The Freak
  • But no V3.  She's not pictured in the promo images, either.

Fits for M3 and M2, but not for V3 and V2?

thefixer ( ) posted Wed, 06 December 2006 at 1:49 PM

Well those are the only pics I've seen so far of V4 'cos I'm not in the platinum club and I gotta say I'm not overly impressed!!!
Hopefully when they let us mere serfs get a proper look I might change my mind!!

Yes, I noticed that too. Seems very strange also I don't see Aiko on the list either or else I missed it. Still not bad looking hair.

No Aiko or SP3 either on the fits.

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 06 December 2006 at 3:03 PM

I'm thinking maybe there will be another add-on pack, with the missing fits and more textures.

Which makes the hair even more expensive...

Klutz ( ) posted Wed, 06 December 2006 at 3:05 PM · edited Wed, 06 December 2006 at 3:06 PM

Maybe they are saving up the omitted fits for yet another add on package? :0/

( Hmm beat me to it :0/ )

Different makers, so that is expected.

We'll just have to wait for something like what Netherworks has done for older figures to convert hair props around.

I suppose so, but there is Jessi in there.......

TBH the apparently near random omissions give me the impression this has been rushed out.

They've changed the product.  Now V3 and Aiko fits are included.

Earlier today, there was a notice in bright red saying "This product only works with V4!"  Now it has fits for V3, SP, Aiko, and Aiko Realistic.

Nosiferret ( ) posted Wed, 06 December 2006 at 5:16 PM

For hair fittings I've always set the hair item up and adjusted it with the XYZ dials in Poser to raise it, lower it and expand it etc. I never used any of the "fits" for which ever character and it's worked for me. So don't panic if V3 or Aiko isn't on the list. I set the model in default pose mode [DM pose packages always comes with a default pose which is great for going back to start when something messes up and it won't affect your body  morphs] then I add the hair and select "Body" on the hair and then use the dials to adjust the hair onto the head. I use the Face camera and that way I can rotate around the head to make sure there isn't any scalp showing through. Then select set parent and find my figure on the list and click on the "Head" and "OK" and it's done. Probably done less than a minute.  The only problem I have had with it is when I've used packaged poses for the hair and some will adjust the hair to "Vickey" size if you were using it on Aiko or Mike etc. I've used Dixie hair on David and he came out looking yummy with the long tresses :)

I don't have the latest Quarker hair so I'm thinking it can still be moved around like I normally fit different hair on models. There is talk of V4 being completely different than V3 as in none of the previous models clothing items are going to fit. That freaks me out considering how much money I've spent on V3 since 2004. ::Note to self...:: I gotta learn how to make my own stuff!

Some people on the Plat Club forum site at DAZ are posting their own images using the hair and they've managed to get it to fit V3, so I'm thinking it can be adjusted using the method I mentioned above. So far someone has posted an image that makes the hair appear cut in a very nice smooth bob like fashion...I wish Quarker's ad page had posted the various morphs for the hair instead of just showing the long stringy version. Well, since I know it can do many other hair styles....I might have to get it now...I have no will power whats so ever!!!

That confirms my thoughts about the rush job then!  ;0) LOL

They changed the text, it now reads, Radiant Jaguar Hair by Quarker "# Includes Fits for: * Victoria 4 * Victoria 3 * Stephanie Petite 3 * Aiko 3 * Aiko 3 Realistic" It also fits V2 with no adjustment. V4 will also have a V4 to V3 version so you can use all of your V3 wardrobe with her. Coldrake
