Subject: MORPH BRUSH: Question for those with Poser 7

eecir ( ) posted Tue, 12 December 2006 at 3:59 AM · edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 3:31 PM

Top question:

Does the morph brush affect the whole body in one go. So if you expand the influence on the face will it carry on down the body or stop at the neck?

Cheers

Sorry I can't give you a reply to this as I'm still downloading, just wanted to say that the morphing tool is what I'm looking forward to the most. No doubt I'll be posting my opinions on this later.

eecir ( ) posted Tue, 12 December 2006 at 4:38 AM

I think it's very important that this tool spans body parts - so I look forward to hearing from you.
Good luck with your download.

Cheers.

Silke ( ) posted Tue, 12 December 2006 at 5:47 AM

Yes the Morphing Tool works on the entire body.
I'm rendering V3 with a toothache atm, but she's got a 3rd boob growing too...

Will post when it's finished. Rendering seems to take... a while. :/

Good news about the morphing tool Silke, can't wait to see the render!

Silke ( ) posted Tue, 12 December 2006 at 6:05 AM

Ok here we go:

As you can see she has a toothache.
If you look at the right arm, she has a scar (indent) there as well.
Both were done with the Morph tools.

I'd say for anything really good you'll have to have the patience of a saint. :)

Good work Silke, this is just what I wanted to see!
I really want to create with this tool, I think I'll have the patience!
Download now at 72%.

To answer the original question, the morph tool ONLY affects the body group it is on at one time. I asked EF about spanning groups, and there's really no easy way to impliment it into the poser engine.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Thanks all, – real bummer about not spanning body parts.
That's one major advantage N-side's Quidam has over Poser 7. Looks like I have no real reason to buy Poser 7 then.

You could try working on the OBJ file rather than the figure.

Well here's a quick Casual Popeye having used the morphing tool on Simon's forearms.

stormchaser ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 3:19 AM

Just started using the morphing tool now, oh yes, I can see me spending far too much time with this, awesome!

pjz99 ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 3:48 AM

The morphing tool kicks all kinds of butt.  Finally it's possible to get a little subtle age on your characters without having to pass stuff back and forth between Poser and a modeling app.  I am really pleased with how easy it's been so far.  You can get yourself into trouble but multiple undo, another really nice new feature, will get you back out.

Stormchaser, congrats on getting your copy downloaded and installed, I know that must have taken a lot of patience.

OMG!!! I'm having so much fun with this!  I'm working on a character for some personal fiction illustration who is deformed on only half of her face.  WOW, the morph tool has allowed me to creat her ALMOST EXACTLY as I see her.  I'm literally jumping for joy here!  :woot:

I couldn't help it and attached a trash render of what I'm working on.  Still needs some minor tweaking (and the textures are not finalized yet, particularly the burn texture (P.S. THANK YOU Orca Design Studios for that freebie), but wow, she's getting there.

This is almost starting to make up for the weird render artfiacts problem I'm having, LOL!

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 5:58 AM

Awesome morph there, Moxie! And the texture enhances it, too!

Spanning bodyparts, Blacksmith3D does that with ease, so it's a bit odd that it can't be done with the morph tool. I also miss a "symmetry-while-you-work" option. I guess I've been spoiled LOL

Well it'll come in handy for a lot of things, that's obvious. :o) It's really a great idea!

**MoxieGraphix - Brilliant, can you keep us updated with the progress!

TrekkieGrrrl - There is a mirror button within the morphing tool menu, it only seems to work some of the time though. Is this what you need?**

MoxieGraphix ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 6:13 AM

Thanks guys!  I'm getting ready to post an update in the gallery.  I'm really amazed (and proud of myself!).  Thank goodness for multiple undo though laughs

ThrommArcadia ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 7:09 AM

MoxieGraphix, that is really cool and inspiring!

I can't wait to play with the morph tool.  I'm working way too much OT this week, unfortunately, but you really have shown some real promise!

Silke, that sore tooth is perfect, aswell.

Oh, P7 is going to really give new life to some people's galleries.

pjz99 ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 7:14 AM

Oh THAT'S what you meant.  That's really impressive, scary look there.

**Well here's what I've been working on with the morph tool, some body please take it off me! This really enabled me to protude properly parts of the head & around the brow. I could also pull the mouth out, sink the cheek better & also a bit of ear work.

It looks better in full.**

MoxieGraphix ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 7:26 AM

Oh WOW.  Just... WOW.  That's so creepy and wonderful.

stormchaser ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 7:28 AM

those two latter images indicate the morph tool will be very useful IMVHO, if folks can get good results this quickly.
