Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 16 10:02 pm)
Just my opinions as always... - Victoria has superior morphing capabilities than the standard P4 Female (Posette), but since there are so many more morphs available for Posette, it sort of evens out. :) - Victoria poses better than Posette (although I occasionally have some difficulty applying standard poses to her). Open mouth smiles or other expressions are usually quite a bit better on Victoria. - Close-up renders of Victoria generally seem to look better, partially due to the increased geometry and facial detail. The eyelashes are definately better on Vicky. - Many people (including myself) like Posette's body better than Victoria's. Most clothing is designed to fit Posette, but Victoria 2 will supposedly be able to wear all P4 clothing (correct me if I'm wrong). - Victoria uses two texture maps, one for the head and one for the body. This allows for more detail too, although it can be a royal pain to convert your favorite P4 texture to fit Victoria. If you're new, I would recommend you stick with the default figures until you become very familiar with the program. Victoria isn't a waste of money, but in my opinion, she's not that much better (if at all) than Posette, especially if you live off Freestuff and don't have the money to buy additional clothing packs and morphed figures (like me, haha). :) Hope that helps. Take care! SnowS Hoping his pictures are worth 1001 words.

Thanks SnowS, I think I will pass on "Vicky" for now. Maybe when version 2 comes along, I will see what that has to offer and go from there. I do really appreciate your feedback, because as I said, I am fairly new to Poser, and can't understand, even now, why Miss Vicky is so great. (: Do take care and thank you for taking the time to answer my question. Genny
Well, SnowS, if you prefer the facial detail on Vicky but still want to use P4 clothing and really like the P4 body, then my suggestion is that you get WarriorDL's Pollyette--which is the Vicky head (you MUST have Vicky in order to do this though) and the P4 body. There is also Bobby--same deal--Mike head, P4 body. this allows you to use all the p4 clothing w/o any problems. If I can find one of my old Pollyette pics that I deleted quite awhile ago from the gallery, I'll post it. Oh, the URL is www.3dposer.com Diane

Go to Fantasy, basic at this URL http://www.3dposer.com/ for Pollyette. YOu will need to use Morph Manager to move Vicky's morphs to Pollyette.Do you need the original Vicki in order to use Polyette, though? Does it bring her head in from the Vicki geometry? I already have Vicki (and she's definitely worth the money), but I haven't tried Polyette. I've considered her, but with the new Vicki so close at hand, I may just wait until she's released. Melanie
Thanks Picnic, I already have both Polyette and Bobby though. ;) Last time I looked though, the downloads were gone... I like Polyette for close-ups, but I still think Posette has a more "feminine" default look without the need for heavy morphing. Bobby is definately worth downloading if you have Michael, since the P4 Male has a lot better body morphs than Michael does. Genny, you might want to download my Vickybuster texture here in freestuff if you plan to keep working with the default P4 woman. Staale did an amazing job with the original base texture, and I think with my modifications, it's one of the most highly detailed free textures available. :) I'm also testing out a slightly improved version of it with a new eyelash transparency that I hope to have ready for download within a few days. Thanks for your comments, take care! SnowS

What I personally really love about Vicky is how her face can be turned into so many different looks - the possibilities are almost endless. And it's so easy to make her look good. I don't like P4 female anymore after using Vicky for some months. P4 female always looks pretty much the same no matter how you try to morph her face (some faeries look different, tho) and her eyes never look very good... plus, P4 female needs so much more post work cos the joints are totally messed if you want her to have a bit more challenging pose...
Just my two cents, but definitely wait for Vicky 2, if you want to buy a Vicky at all. I have to admit that though I have Vicky, I find using her a challenge since I prefer a face type that is radically different from what she has. I think the new Vicky will have softer features, judging from the previews DAZ is showing, and I really welcome that change. Posette, in my opinion, has a far more womanly body, too, and Vicky just seems kind of flabby and gangly in comparison (especially from behind...ouch). This can all be corrected, of course, through morphing and magnets, but for a new user it would be challenging. I would also like to suggest that you try out Eve 4.0 from MorphWorld, a free character, who I like more than anyone thus far. Though you have to adjust Posette clothing to fit her, there is a straightforward tutorial on the site teaching you how. MorphWorld also just introduced Azura, a Posette with a high-res head. I think the URL is http://morphs.bbay.com and just go to the section that says "Eve Stuff." Have fun posing :)))))
Definitely grab Eve4 or Azura. They're free, and you can get amazing bodies on them if you mess around a little with the morphs. You can download the converted p4 clothing for her from morphworld as well. I think that vicky is overhyped. The one thing thats even made me think about buying vicky is Jim Burton's work with supermodel vicky -- but he has modified the mesh. Vicky just doesnt impress me much, and neither does her price tag. As for the new textures available for her, there are far better user-made textures either in the marketplace or in the free stuff section. The new vicky 2 textures they are selling at Daz are much too perfect -- real-life people dont look like Barbie, they have blemishes and moles and slightly mottled skin coloring.
Although I usually do not tell artist what they should or should not buy because that is a distruction of creativity what one person can't do with another may work wonders with I use to be a freebee junkie but as time went on I don't see as purchasing items from other artist and modelers as a bad investment. Many have given so much to this community and others that i feel it is only right to support them in what they do. I am not saying go out and spend money you don't have but when you get an extra $10 or $20 it is well worth the money, as for Vicki there are a lot of characters out for Vicki, most are not real expensive. Volup Vicki, Toni, Sisna, Saluda to name a few. as been stated before you can never have too many Poser people. That said for now i would wait for V2 but if and when you get the money I think she and mike are well worth the cost. Creativity can be found in many places Free and paid, What if they told Michaelangelo "don't use marble it cost to much just use that granite from the granite pit it's free" What would the world have missed out on That said all items for Poser is well worth the price Free or Paid. It's just when you are ready to move to the next step Thank you for your time Stallion WEEEEEHORSE......
You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech
I honestly think that buying other people's textures is stifling your creativity. I know I'm going to take a lot of flak for this considering that this whole community and site is centred around the marketplace, but I'll say it anyways. Its like taking a sculpture that someone else has sculpted and photographing it. Sure the photo might be nice, but the real talent lies in the artist who made the sculpture. I think that people should be less focused on 'collecting' free textures and marketplace textures and take some time out to create one of your own. Sure, your initial attempt might not be the best -- but itll be your OWN. Anyone can buy vicky, some clothing, a texture, a set of poses and lights, props, etc. and create some really nice images. But its more of an achievement if the items are your own. I'm not saying DONT BUY ANYTHING, I'm simply trying to convince people to be a little more original and create SOMETHING on their own. Its quite simple to make your own textures, clothing and simple props, and you end up being a lot more proud of your work. Start off by making something small. Make some custom textures for clothing. Then, as you get better, make your own skin textures...move onto basic props, clothing transparencies, etc. Just my 2 cents. Flame on, people. Cheers, -broken

Hi All, I just now come into some unexpected cash, not much, but enough to buy "Victoria", and I just want to know what it is about her that would make me want to have her? I am fairly new to Poser, and do not understand what the big "Hoop-La" about "Vicky" is all about? What does she do that the others, don't? I also see so many things on sale (and even for free) for this "Vicky" and now I really don't know what to do? Any suggestions, or imput on this would be "Highly" appreciated. (: Genny
