Subject: V4 doesn't want to be saved???

Casette ( ) posted Tue, 12 December 2006 at 12:40 AM · edited Fri, 15 November 2024 at 2:14 PM

Hi folks

I suppose I'm not the only one with this bug, but... looks like when I include V4 in a scene the pz3 file has any kind of mistake. Sometimes is correctly stored and I can open it as usual, sometimes not and the Main window is empty

WHATH IZ THIZ???????

There is a problem with V4 and Poser 6 when saving with the 'Use external binary morph target' enabled. Uncheck this option under 'Edit --> General Preferences --> Misc.' and you can save + load your scenes again. Coldrake

That's a bad solution. I save all my scenes with binary morph target enabled, so it's annoying to check it for some savings and uncheck for another ones. DAZ3D has no report of this? (trying to void to write them if the matter is already reported)

Stupid question: what is actually the advantage to using the external binary morph thing? I never found a good reason to leave it on at all.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

They have never worked for me so I have had them off at all times but they save PZ3 and CR2 files size.

She doesn't want to be saved!  She's going to hell, and she likes it that way!

I always leave external morphs off.  I've found Poser to be unstable with it on.

Simply a question of size

pz3 example: 1 V3, 1 M3, and some props

PZ3 CLASSIC: 34,4 MB.
PZ3 + PMD: 10,5 MB + 9,3 MB: 19,8 MB.

Now take in mind I have stored more or less over 500 pz3 files... a HUGE difference  ;)

Yabut dear ma'am.. save them as compressed files and that'll help, too.

And since Daz and Poser IS moving further apart (Apparently Daz really wants us all to use Das Scheiße..er I mean Daz Studio) you shouldn't expect newer Daz characters to be fully Poser compatible ;)

I doubt his, Mr Prickman. looks like a random mistake. Some scenes with V4 are saved, but another ones not

thanks for clearing that up Casette (EBM) wondered what that did.

my P5 scenes used to be over 100mb Pz3's, but now my P6 scenes are less than 20mb, i have my EBM on toooooo!! never had a problem with it. someone else mentioned them before, when having problems exporting to vue, but i've never had a problem with that either.

so it must work for some and not for others.

I tried the trick but still cannot save a scene and load it back, there are simply nog lights (completely dark image) , and something crashed because if ask for a new scene then the scene stays dark, even when I add new lights. :-(

Ok when Is service pack 1 coming?  At this moment it is useless, back to Poser 6

nruddock ( ) posted Wed, 13 December 2006 at 9:30 PM

This sounds like the problem that occurs with missing shadowcams, some one want to check one of the problem scenes ?

obaeyens ( ) posted Thu, 14 December 2006 at 12:23 PM

I tried this:
Open Poser 7, then save the default scene.
Close Poser 7, open the last saved default scene and the light are black and the image is completely black. Adding new lights make the new lights in color but the scene itself stays black.

With both external links or internal.

What did seem to work, was open poser 7 again, and IMPORT the default scene, and the image is there, so it seems to have saved.

So I tried again with my Poser 6, scene, take a scene, save it without external links, and open it in Poser 7, and again completely dark scene. I also tried the import but this did not work like the Poser 7 saved file.

The other things noted was, once I have this black scene, creating a new scene also gives a black scene, soc I have to close Poser 7 and reopen it again.

Except for this odd behaviour everythings seems to work fine.

I did have a lot of porps and figures that are instaled for Poser 7 now. Maybe something with the size of the libarie?

I hope this gets resolved soon. The rendering seems to be faster and much better than Poser 6

obaeyens ( ) posted Thu, 14 December 2006 at 12:37 PM

Ok Ik tried some additional experiments.

I tried to load the Poser 7 scener in Carrara 5 Pro and it was asking for some obj files and the location of textures (jpg).

I also tried to  to read the Poser 7 in Poser 6 and again, missing obj files and jpg textures. So my guess at this moment is that it somehow is looking in the wrong folder. The open dialogbox show the parent folder.

Maybe of interest this is the installed path"C:Program Filese frontierPoser 7" maybe some problem with spaces?

Aha - thanks guys :) Coldrake's solution worked perfectly for me - kept getting corrupt saves until I disabled the binary morph targets! Now I'm up and running again!
