Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
Choose an item or folder in you library (not double clicking, just a single clisk to highlight), then go to the top of the library palette and right click, a drop down menu will appear and you'll see "add to collection" (or create new collection) click on it, name the collection and there you go. Now whenever you want that item or folder, just go to the collection usign the same method to find it.
I haven't doen it yet, so I don't know if it's working, but I did find the option and mentally noted it.
It does not (btw) change anythign in your runtime locations, it just creates a new path for qucily finding things.
Pretty much as ThrommArcadia says, except you don't even have to go to top of menu to add to collection...
Just highlight the figure, prop, whatever you want to add to your collection and do a right mouse click...
It is nice in that you can add anything to a collection... figures... hair... props... poses.. etc.
Have started to make a few collections and it will certainly save some time later when composing scenes. Instead of sifting through various folders... even runtimes... for things... you have them all in one place.

Quote - What would have been nice... is a feature that allows you to right click on a figure... prop... whatever... within a scene you are working on... and to be able to add that to a collecction..
True! Shall we start the Poser 8 wishlist now?
I got my shipment yesterday and then my DVD drive decided to get wonky and wouldn't read the application disc. I checked it on my laptop and my son's computer and the disc is fine so it's an issue with my DVD drive that I'll work on today.
I'll let everyone know when I have it installed and am playing with the functions but I do love the idea of collections!

Quote - Ok, but how do you delete a collection once it's been added if you named it wrong? I see no way of renaming a collection or deleting it to start over if you messed up while testing the feature.
You are correct... there isn't. You can only delete things from within a collection...
We need a right click menu on collection/library folders...

Agreed, but... should we have to go down that route..? Would be much easier/nicer if we could do it all from within P7 itself...
After all.. you don't buy a BMW and have to get out of it and into your Renault to turn on the wipers in your BMW...

Nice thread, I had to search around to find the content pallet. It's a neat little expandable icon at the top of the "Library" pallet. Question: as I understand you all, this only adds a path to a runtime or object; the entire runtime is not loaded is that correct? I wouldn't want to load all my content, that would be a big memory hog, not mention load time.
Merci beaucoup

I dont know about mac but in windows it creates a standard windows shortcut.
you can only add a single file at a time.
and it doesn't appear to "load" the collection information the way it does when you switch runtimes.
having just typed that... it seems to me this may be the library of the future... cr2, pz2, hr2 etc may be the obj files of the future. You just let them fall where they may and use your collections to organize and insert files. A slow creaping change to keep the "dont change anything" people from panicing. Perhaps even by the time the change is "done" they will have had enough user input to make it really good.
or maybe i'm reading too much into this new option

true, but you cannot rename or move anything else in the library so it's not inconsistant :)

Anyone have a simple explanation of how the collections are supposed to work? IE: How do you create them/Add To them/Delete them?
