THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: WARNING: RIP SITE

deadwarrior ( ) posted Fri, 15 December 2006 at 4:53 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 11:20 PM

Quite a bit of discussion is going on over at the Terragen Forum right now. Seems a Spanish web site is ripping off images from Rendo artists.

From what I've read, a number of Terragen and Photo work has been pirated. And  from what I've seen at their site quite a bit of Poser as well.

Head over to the Terragen Forum for more details and a link to their site.

Considering the level of artistry and skill of Bryce Artists, I wouldn't be suprised to find some of your work there as well.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news (sigh).

Best to all of you,

Very hard to navigate. I did notice that there are links for users on the left. As I scrolled down I saw user ICM. I can't get the link up though.

There's still a lot of stolen artwork from Renderosity artist on that site... Try having a look at the site: http://xwall.metropoliglobal.com/galerias/index

There was an ICM there....ME. I registered to dig deeper.

There are RIPS from tons of Artists, from Rochr, Dylan Cole, Striving, and tons more.
I didn't find any of my personal work, but I only went through 1200 or so images.

Apparently this site is either unaware of copyright laws or doesn't care.
It's certain this is going to catch the attention of lots of Artists and the Graphic Community, leaving the site owners in a serious Leagl lurch.

I rest assured in the fact that no one in their right mind would want to rip any of my stuff off :)

I'm having trouble getting into the site.
Are they selling images?  Or giving them away as wallpaper?   And do they at least credit the artist?

Thing is, if they had asked if they could give them away as wallpaper, I wouldn't mind.  As long as my name and URL are listed.   i saw a few German sites doing a similar thing.  But I haven't come across anyone trying to make money from my pics.

I don't know spanish apart from un grande cerveza por favor, but seems like the bandwith has been exceeded. Hopefully the end of the site. Your image was uploaded by someone else and no credit was given. I think the idea was for users to upload stuff they liked from the web, the sheer amount of stuff was staggering.
Chase up the thread in the photography forum, a few more details can be seen.

Hey guys.

Thanks for the tip. I browsed around a little, but it seems as if they leave the images untouched(in most cases i assume). I´ve found a few of my stuff, but all the tags were there, so personally i´m ok with that.

Phil, i´ve sent you some login info. Use it if you need it.

There's some more info being kicked around in the copyright forum here.

It's a real eye-opener seeing some of the other threads about someone impersonating people and claiming the art was their own. Scary stuff this art is.... gosh!

It´s tragic, but unfortunatly very common.

Thanks for the info Rudy.  it was more loading the site than logging in.  I guess it's been pulled or they're having trouble.

I feel that it's like trying to stop a leaky sieve.   For every site we come across, there will be a dozen others that go unnoticed.

Not saying we shouldn't kick up a stink though.
