Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Oct 22 12:41 am)
You look in G2 ?
Don't have Poser 7 , but I remember some mention of G2 having most of the P7 people in it.

Taking "Just do it" to a whole new level!
There is no G2 figure folder. There is a G2 texture folder, and two animation folders have G2 in the name. I'm doing DOS searches on all this stuff, and there is nothing there.
There is also nothing in the ReadMe offering any explanation and of course nothing in the manual, which barely has been updated for P6, as near as I can determine. While looking for Syd, I tried to find documentation of the "new Features" cataloged in the introduction and came up empty. I expected that, but no figures has me flummoxed.

I think when you installed Poser7. you checked the legacy content instead of the regular content, At least that's what happened to me. In that case you have to do another installation with the regular content checked. I find it quite annoying and confusing that you can't check both options, only one option will be intsalled.

Sorry, I had to be more specific. You have three options: full, minimal or custom install.
I always use custom because I want to have know what and where I install. But if you do that you have to choose between current (what I meant with regular) or legacy content. For some stupid reason, you can't choose both. I don't know what you get when i take the full install, I suppose you get everything, but I haven't tried that.

And I find your restraint charming. That's exactly what happened, I think. When I saw that once again they had dumped the "old" content into a supplemental file, I checked it, failing to notice that this unchecked the standard P7 content. And to make matters worse, then the "supplemental content" loaded Simon Casual, his faces, his hats, his jeweled jock, his monocle -- everything he needs to be disemboweled by La Femme Sydney.
No warning that I had CHOSEN to not load the P7 content, and a visual cue that devirted me from the fact. An installer devised by sadists. It's not annoying, it's stupid. This kind of stupidity was undoubtedly caught by the four-year-old children of testers on "Take the kid to work day," but whadda they know? Besides, Poser dummies LIKE abuse; it makes them buy upgrades and useless add-ons even more feverishly. That's me all right. Can't wait to fork over $35 to beta-test V4.
The manual, by the way (I've had lots of time to thumb through it while waiting for the computer to dredge up the missing "most excellent, extreme content (dude)!!" ) appears to have had about five minutes of updating. For a fun parlor game, pick an italicized feature from the Introduction and be the first to find a reference to it in the manual. Checking the ToC and Index is allowed, to give you an idea how much fun this can be. No surprise; the same thing happened with both V5 and V6.
In fact, there are "features" in V5 that nobody, including the design team, seems to have any idea about. Open a SpotLight parameters palette and try to find an explanation somewhere for the "Light Flaps" parameters etc under Shader Nodes. In P7, sometimes they are there, sometimes they aren't. If they are there, messing with them causes stuff. What stuff, you ask? Layers of color chaos that no doubt made sense to someone, somewhere. Besides, like the ghost camera outlines of P5, sometimes they're there and sometimes they're not. If they are there, just don't mess with them.
Oh and finally, after P3, P4, P5, and P6 left us to fend for ourselves, an official explanation for what Shadow Cameras do. I can't wait to see if they fixed the screwball numbering system that requires you to keep a notepad handy if you want to know which Shadow Cam goes with what light.
Ah, there she is, along with Kate 2, Ben 2, a pile of animals.... Someone might drop eF a note and introduce them to the hoary concept, "Out of Box Experience." Mine has been, well, memorable.

*I think that after three or four different software companies there's no-one left of the original designteam. I did hope that E-frontier would have some fresh ideas for this new release, but besides some cosmetic and neccessary changes they're still milking the same old cow.
-How can you improve things when you don't make mistakes?
After several software companies did this, that and the other thing to the "same old cow" some of us are wondering what the 'kick-stand' is for and why does our cow NEED a laser-sight?

And pus cells. Don't forget the pus! I did a paper in college on milk and did you know that in some states they are allowed 350,000 pus cells per liter? (or was that gram?)
Got pus?

My boxed set arrives and I install, ready to begin my own comparisions. However, I don't appear to have a Sydney. My P7 Characters folder contains one figure: Simon Casual. That's it. No Sydney. No "HiRes Simon," no "Nude Simon." I found Sydney's shoes in the Casino... NO SYDNEY!
I have a feeling I don't want to hear the answer to this one. Where is Sydney?
