Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 6:22 pm)
Crap, I was gonna say Phil Cooke just from looking at the title but I see I'm a little slow as usual.
There are many who contribute to the community in different ways and IMVHO it's not right to single out any one individual and incidentally I have nothing against PhilC either, he actually helped me with something earlier this year of his own free will and he is a great guy no question. I could give you a list of people that have all contributed something special in different ways like Dr. geep for instance who helps noobs tremendously or Mapps for all his terrific freebies or even the mods who work tirelessly all year as "volunteers" with no pay to keep this particular poser World running smooth
[most of the time ;-)].
Sorry, it's not my intention to offend.
Injustice will be avenged.

Heh my first thought when I read the title was "PhilC" as well. However, on second thought I think I agree with thefixer. If we like to think of Rosity as a Community, we should remember that community is all about working together, all of us :o)
While Phil deserves all the accolades he can get, it's not really int eh Community Spirit to single anyone out.
And btw, neither did Time magazine, this year ;o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
I think Phil will console himself with the big fat wad of cash he's making with the release of V4 and everyone scrambling to buy clothing tools, shouldn't worry too much about him. :tt2:
I'd nominate Stahlratte for the wonderfull figures and morphs that he's given us all!

For years I have posted in the Community Center Forum that we need to have some kind of "Member of the Year." Not just artist or merchant, but member. I've mentioned Dr. Geep and little_dragon because they've given so much over time. There are certainly others who deserve public praise and recognition as well. Maybe each year we add 10 members to "The Hall Of Fame" or something? For the record, The Tormented Tot is a fictional character and, although much beloved, would not be eligible for consideration.

I think a "TOP TEN" adder to the Poser Hall of Fame would be better than a "Man of the Year"
In no particular order, I would nominate the following:
Philc
Stahlratte
Kalador
little_dragon
TrekkieGrrrl
Mapps
Stonemason
theNess
Kuronome (sp)
the Wishmaster
There are MANY other, but I limited myself to the first ten that leapt to mind. I KNOW I misspelled some name, and I apologize for that.

Taking "Just do it" to a whole new level!
And we can't forget Kozaburo!
Before they made me they broke the mold!

hasn't kozaburo (webendtwardseast) been canonized yet? ;) i'd vote for acadia, because: - she is pandora's box for useful links - she has never been less than friendly, polite and helpful to all - not only to her faithful followers - she doesn't try to sell sth in exchange for her help so, yes, this crown fits perfectly to acadia's head. A.
Earlier this year SVDL was more than kind to give away his SpawnCharacter.py script!
Later in the year he contributed the one and only other freebie equally as useful; removemorphs.py.
I've personally directed dozens of people to his two posts for these scripts, and the general feedback genuinely elation!
These tools solve "Huge" setbacks that have bogged Poser forever, and still continue to do so today! With the help of his scripts I've managed to trim a 250MB V3.PZ3 to about 25MBs, without any loss of detail! Now I can render 10 times as many figures a once, or just get it a single figure rendered 10 times faster!
I haven't bought Wardrobe Wizard yet, but will check it out soon. I'll check out the goodies by other nominated artists or merchants above, too. (Looks like I'm outdated for quite a while on Poser products.)
For now, in no particular order:
Kozaburo (more like Poser Life Achievement Award than Person of the Year)
Traveler (RuntimeDNA freebies)
Mapps
TrekkieGrrrl
acadia
Stonemason

WOW I made the list here a few times...Blush
I do agree with the listed nominations above though and With thefixer.
There are so many who contribute so much, just go through the "top contributors" list in the free section to see the more visible hundred or so individuals. Then you have the less visible volunteers that don't do any less but there name appears less often.
I'll not list anyone direct since I have many friends here and my opion would lean a bit heavy in the direction of the ones I know and like :-)
OK I'll make one exception...my rather silent partner yeisits3, mapps is the name everbody sees but mapps "freebies and such" are realy 2 peoples contibutions :-)
So many wonderful people would deserve nomination:)
But I can narrow my list down to these few;
Acadia because she is like the Den Mother to all of us :) I don't think the community would be as nice without her kindness and wisdom.
Mapps (yes both of you) for the brilliant work, lavish freebies, and generous spirit
and
dphoadley for constantly reminding us that Poser is about imagination and creativity and not about who has the most toys. He keeps it real :)
Edit;
I almost forgot one more!! Dodger must be on any list of nominees. He is a megatalent. And someone whose ethics I admire and respect. remember the Anton thing? What I saw occuring during that was Dodger was willing to stand up for someone unfairly accused. And Dodger had no profit in doing so. Dodger is a good person, and I don't think I can give a greater compliment than that.
Great suggestions but they all fade away in the shadows of the real poser man of the year: Steve Shanks and the real Poser woman of the year: Lyrra Madril.
One of the few who have continued to stay independant for many years now, providing what we need for a great price!
Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

No, there's no prize. And this isn't a formal award from anyone. But if Time can do it, why can't we? who's the most significant member of the Poser Community in the last year? Let's try to keep with the good reasons, but if you want to nominate somebody for the problems they've caused, keep is polite: if I knew who was responsible for the way Poser still doesn't let you easily change the UI colours I'd be tempted to niminate them, but I would try to keep my language civilised. But my nomination is for the good guy: PhilC. And why? Not just Wardrobe Wizard itself, but for all the other utilities he provides, his cupport for them, and the clear explanation of what they do and how to use them. I don't want to dismiss Kamilche's contributions, but PhilC is the public face of the operation, and stands head and shoulders above the rest for the quality of the support he gives. And that's what leads me to prefer him over so many other talented people working with Poser. Your turn. I expect to be surprised.
