Thank you, very much. Personally, I don't celebrate it as a holiday, but I do mark it as that great day during the cold when the days start getting longer again. 😄

Some folk in my part of the planet observe the Winter Solstice by consuming a hot sweet thick clear syrup-py soup with redbean paste-filled rice-flour balls, or sesame-filled rice-flour balls.  The rice-flour balls are white or light pink in colour.  Hmmmm, must remind my Mom to get some done !

Mmmm sounds good! Whenever I think of rice balls I can't help but to think about sticky rice. I ate a lot of it when I was in Thailand. But yikes I had to stay away from the peppers! I could take the curry but not those peppers...LOL!!!
