how does one go about to use the boolean effects for RDS?? i am trying to make objects that can be used in cybertown.com . and some of the ideas i have unfortunately needs the boolean effect.

Booleans in RDS are pretty simple. Select both objects (they both have to be in the same group, if you have any groups going on). Then use the pull-down menu under arrange. Select "3-D Boolean..." and decide from the following dialogue box what you need to do (intersection, union or subtraction). Bear in mind that sometimes you'll get some odd artifacts in the boolean operation -- odd extra vertecies and such -- which you can clean up in the vertex editor. These artifacts can sometimes be minimized by making sure you have a lot of vertecies on both of the objects being booleaned (assuming your machine has enough horsepower to handle the extra poly-count). I'd recommend that you save your file before you try a boolean, as sometimes they'll cause system freezes. Also, I'd suggest that you perform booleans with as few other objects in the file as possible, then import the final result into the scene with other objects. This isn't always necessary, but I've found that when I just have two objects in a scene, the boolean usually works better than when I'm using two out of fifteen objects within a scene. Hope this helps!

It's possible that you're using some kind of object which isn't supported (I'm taking a guess here). What you should try is changing the modeler used. Carrara Method: Select your object and go to the modeling room. In one of the pulldowns, change the modeler to the vertex modeler. Do this for both of your objects. Now try to do your boolean operations. Also, you can only do boolean operations on two objects at a time. They can't be grouped objects either but two primary objects and the have to be in the same group. RDS Method Same thing but you change the native modeler in a different way and I can't remember off the top of my head how to do that. Give this a spin and take heed to my warnings about groups.

What Kixum is suggesting is done in RDS by pulling down the Edit menu, selecting Jump in Another Modeler. Also be sure that the two objects you're selecting are in the same group. And, just to be sure, you're using RayDream Studio, not RayDream 3D, right? RD3D does not support Boolean Operations. I don't know what version of RayDream Studio first incorporated Booleans, but if you're using an older version (say, pre 5.0) it may not be supported, either....

i am using RDS 5.5. i at least can use the boolean funtions in Spazz3D, but that one i have troubles with textures. now only there was a program that could combine the ease of both on what i can do with each!!! RDS, i have an easy time with shaders at least!!! lol
