Subject: How is Miki for a character?

Darboshanski ( ) posted Sat, 23 December 2006 at 12:52 PM · edited Fri, 24 January 2025 at 2:49 AM

Since I am now a passport member I was thinking about getting the Miki package which via passport is at a nice price. However, I really don't know how Miki is character wise as I have heard mixed reviews about her and I don't know if I want to spend more for another character.

So those of you that have Miki what are your opinions on her?

Thanks!

I like her alot! With the Ultimate morphs for her from RDNA, you can do some amazing things with her!

Me too .I suggest to get her

Depends on what is important for you from a figure. She has less options than V3 or even V4. Her body has bending issues (arms and shoulders) and funky proportions, that even though you can get some good results from extensive tweaking of the RDNA morphs, she is far from versatile IMO.

Pluses for me, love her face and facial features and with the face room support, you can get great results. There are some good products for her including very nice character sets.

Keep in mind, there is a new version coming (G2?) and from what I have read willl have new mapping, so old textures won't work.

thumbs up from me!!! very versatile base character, but her wrists are weird.

I like her - not necessarily a point in her favour, but it's an honest opinion.   There are some very good textures for Miki out there, but, if what FSMC Designs has heard is accurate, that may not be a selling-point.   I prefer her expressions to those of V3, or V4, or A3, for that matter.

She's my favourite!  She does have some wonderful expressions.  I would definitely recommend her.

Miki has the best face out there.

Great body shape too.

Some fantastic textures by Shahara, Saintfox, Outoftouch, Expressimage, too many to list.

BUT

Horrible forearms and wrists bends.  If you rotate the forearms or bend them as if in a curling motion, against the biceps, they distort the elbow horribly.

All that said as of now still my favorite figure out there!
** well - except for the ALIEN figure by Franz Munz/Antares and Virus **  :tt1:

I concur on all the praises about Miki above.

I like her face morphing capability the most, although I do hope her weird wrist distortion (in some bending poses) can be fixed with an update, and sometimes I wish that she could be a bit taller.

Nevertheless, she is still one of my favorite Poser figures, and I definately recommand her.

Like G2 James looking a bit different from the original James (which I think look cooler), G2 Miki may look different, too.
You can inquire Content Paradise about G2 Miki before making your decision.

Here is an example of a portrait based on Miki, with Photoshop postwork on her hair, clothes, background and the overall tone of the picture.
The sweater is actually for V3, resized to fit Miki, looking just fine for a still render.

Lady Miki

I love Miki . . .

Except for her forearms, and bending problems she's near perfect. It really is the best face out there.

Yes, totally!
