Subject: Shader Question

Does anyone know of any shader combinations or tricks for a fuzzy effect on an object, without using a volumetric material?

Thanks.

You can do some pretty cool things with the surface replicator - I don't know if this is the look you have in mind though. Mark

wow, that looks great! I've thought of using the replicator for hair or fur, but never tried. What kind of object did you use?

It's just a simple plane with a texture map on it. In fact, the texture map is actually one I made to create some billboard grass. However, instead of placing it in the color channel, I simply put it in the alpha channel and then created a blended color for the different look. Mark

Thanks, Mark.  It wasn't exactly the effect I was looking for, but I am mightily impressed.  Do you remember what your settings were in SurfRep to achieve that density over the object?

And don't forget what you can do if you have the Anything Grows plugin!

Mark, what a great idea for easy fur! I've had fun animating the "mother" object and watching the replicated follow its lead. What I've always wanted to know is how to add motion to the tip and strands in AG; like Brian's field of flowers.

Never Give Up!

AG has a gravity function. Combined with "stiffness" you can control droop. As for animating it, you'd need to use an animated texture map. Mark
