Subject: How to make Runtime?

Sparkles ( ) posted Thu, 28 December 2006 at 11:37 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 8:46 PM

Hi everyone,
I am new to writing for help so hope I am doing this correct.  I have received Poser 7 , have poser 6, anyways, I would like to do this right finally and want to know how to set up runtimes? Librairies? on another drive.  I know you can add them in poser 7 , I added my poser 6 there, but not sure how to set them up in another folder?

Can I make a runtime just for V4 or V3 or whatever and put all her stuff in there?  And what folders to I put in the runtime? Do I need to make a geometry folder and all the folders that are listed in the poser runtime?  I know I am proly making no sense what so ever, it is very hard to explain what I am asking. UGHHHHH

I would appreciate layman terms cause I am not that up to date on these things.  I want to put files on my d drive and try and sort them into some sort of organization this time, then just add new runtime in poser.  My poser 6 is such a mess I only put things right into it and have stuff everywhere, really would like to not make this mistake with poser 7.

Thank you in advance...if anyone can understand this..:)

Can I delete Ben and Kate stuff without harming poser files?

That link will help you set up external runtimes (runtimes that are outside the main Poser folder)

You should be able to delete Ben and Kate stuff without harming the other poser files. Just make sure you are deleting only files related to them and not something else by accident.

If you find that you have more installed content than you want, why not just uninstall Poser and reinstall it using one of the options presented at the beginning? It's possible to pick a few type of installs. I usually opt for the minimum install which saves me over a gig of space on my hard drive. I find it far easier than installing the whole thing and then having to go and pick through folders trying to delete content I don't want.

The new "collections" library in P7 does much the same thing, you can set up a V3 collection and place all her clothes and props and hair etc. and whatever else you want into that collection and do the same with other figures if that's how you want to use it!

This IMVHO takes the best from multiple and / or single runtime setups and puts it all in the one place, terrific!
