Subject: Crashes when point light is used....anyone? Poser 7

I have been experimenting with the point lights, but everytime I give it a try, P7 freezes, I can close the program, looks like I can actually still click things but nothing happens and I have to control alt delete out.

What I do, open fresh scene, add one prop like a sphere or plane, add 1point light.  Move Point light......then freezes.

I have had similar when I tried to add point lights to a scene. And like you say its weird.. the preview window freezes, but everything else is still active. Can even scroll through the library folders... select options, etc., but eventually have to quit out of P7 and restart.

Umm... don't let me de-rail the topic, but I thought it was sort of amusing that I've been having the same problems with Renderosity ever since they changed the site coding a few months back....  Minus the point lights....  :-P

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Since it's a preview issue, it'd be interesting to know if you have hardware shading enabled and if by any chance the problem does away when you disable it.

@ stewer... I do have hardware shading enabled all the time. So will try it again later with it switched off and see what happens.

Hi Sharon, Is this problem still occurring for you? Does it persist if you use Stefan's request to try it with Hardware Shading turned off? Thanks, -Brian

Well, it has not done it at all and I did not turn anything off, but I did go slower in my positioning.  Seemed to work, no crashes.  Sharen
