Subject: Indigo and mixed lighting set ups.

Anyone else played with indigo here? seems pretty cool so far, but is bit gnarly trying to balance meshlights with a sunlight, find myself adjusting gains a lot in the XML to reduce the cycle time.

Any thoughts?

i've played around with indigo alot, but never with that.  are you using the 7 test?  is the meshlight in camera view?  if the meshlight is in camera view then you could turn bidirectional on in indigo 6.  I have heard of this problem before,  i think your better off faking the sunlight if its an indoor scene with lighting as well as sunlight

Thanks, a meshlight instead of sun is one of the options I'm playing with. Haven't tried turning on bidirectional though :(

now that i think about it,  it makes sense that this is very tricky.  try playing with stuff like exposure time and white ballance, like in photography.  if you turn on a flashlight in full daylight, its pretty hard to see if its on or off due to its light being soo faint compared to the sun's light.

I haven't played with this much, but it seems like I can either have a meshlight or sunlight.  Having the meshlight seems to make the sun go away.

Depends on the gain of the sun and the meshlight :), hope you have a good text editor for that XML :)

In my scene I have a sunlight and 5 meshlights, the meshlights are in the room with the camera, there is a very large window. I have the sun at a gain of 0.05 and the meshlights at a gain of 1.5, colour temp of 20000, they just abaout show.

I'm playing with backing off the colour temp and upping the gain at the moment.....

Looks like just changing the Emit value can make a lot of difference too, I was using a value of 1 but the tests above are .5, .6, .7, and .8 from top to bottom.
