Poser from PP onwards doesn't convert files into gradient bumps (only P4 or below will do that).
Starting with P5, if you have an existing BUM file, you can use it by plugging it into the Gradient_Bump input (this is done by default), but for unconverted maps it's better to connect them to the Bump input (or the Displacement input).
Moving the connections for several materials is tedious if you have to do it manually, which is where the scripts come in (see Python forum).

Could someone explain the difference between a gradient bump as to a regular bump? I looked in the Poser 6 reference manual and it really doesn't say anything in there about gradient bumps or I missed it?
