Subject: A silly thread about the mole and the modeller...

Helgard ( ) posted Thu, 25 January 2007 at 10:06 PM · edited Fri, 24 January 2025 at 6:13 PM

Totally silly thread, but I want to see if anyone can guess why an incredible and fantastic modeller like myself would have a mole on his PC monitor?

It would be stupid to ask why I have a cow on my PC, because everyone has cows on their PC's, or should have, but the mole is an enigma.

And no, I am not modelling a mole. No, it is not a stand to keep my glasses. And no, he doesn't talk to me at 3am when I am modelling in the dark. Well, he doesn't anymore...

So? Why do I have a mole on my PC?

(PS My wonderful girlfriend insisted that I share this thread with you, so blame her, not me)

Because your girlfriend totally kicked your tail at the shooting gallery at the fair, and she wants to remind you of it always?

Oh and I dont have a cow on my pc..I have a glued together rock formation that says 'fabulous mom'...and a dead locust that died with his 4 wings spread in a perfect pose....{don't ask..I have no idea why I hold onto things like that}

You don't have a cow on your computer!!!! What kind of a person doesn't have a cow on their computer. Next you are going to tell me you know of other people who dont have cows on their computers either!!!

No, I don't have webbed feet, I do like dark places, but that's not the reason for the mole.
My birthday is in December, so those who want to start saving for my gifts have lots of time.
And I was a sniper in the army, so NO-ONE kicks my butt at the shooting gallery, lol.

I will leave it for a few more guesses and then say why the mole is such a mystery.

The mole is there to keep the cow from getting lonely when your not at your computer.

EnglishBob ( ) posted Fri, 26 January 2007 at 4:21 AM

Because when it all gets too much for you, you suddenly fling down your brush on the floor, say "Bother!" and "O blow!" and also "Hang spring-cleaning!" and bolt out of the house without even waiting to put on your coat? I have an LCD, so I can't balance a cow on mine. And if I could, it would be a frog. (Not a toad.)

estherau ( ) posted Fri, 26 January 2007 at 6:22 AM

I don't know why you have a mole in your computer room there, but what is highly likely to happen is that he will tell another modeller what you are trying to make, and just before you release your wonderful model at renderosity, someone else will release a better cheaper version that will have a truly remarkeable resemblance to your own work. You've had that happen too, eh?  Lol

Hmmm... you have a mole on your computer to remind you that you are blind as a mole without your glasses and you need to stop squinting at the screen?  Hmm... maybe I need a mole.

Hmmm....not sure about the mole.

I have no mammals on my monitor, just a nice cuddly Turkey Vulture to keep an eye on me. Stashed elsewhere about the office is a more varied zoo. ^_~

-your girls way of saying you don't have much to offer, so be good with what you've got (her!).

-a visual wardrobe check. if you are dressed like the mole, go back to the closet and try again.

just a question...do you really have so many monitors that you have to number them all? 😉

To remind that you turn blind if you spent too much time behind your computer? Or because moles are nightcreatures?
BTW I don't have a cow on my computer but I have one in my car hanging on the rearmirror.
Don't know it's because the cow but I drove 5 times around the world in that car without any accident.

Helgard ( ) posted Fri, 26 January 2007 at 4:00 PM

Ok, the story goes like this.
It was a dark and stormy night...
I was modelling a uniform, and despite many, many attempts at the scarf, it didn't look like a scarf. At various times it resembled a rhino, the space shuttle and an alien face hugger. So I gave up and complained to my girlfriend that the greatest modeller the world has ever known has been stumped by a silly scarf.
She asked me to explain the problem, and I told her that I just couldn't visualize the correct folding, the fall and drape, and the overall look of how it should appear.
She ran off to the room and returned with the mole, and said: "A scarf like this?"
So, eureka, suddenly I could see the way to make the scarf, and thanks to my girlfriend, the blind mole, and my unsurpassed modelling skills, the world is now one scarf richer, made from the finest polygons that money can buy, hand crafted to perfection.

(I warned you it was a silly story, lol)

PS. Yes, I know when mole day is. Maybe because I am also a nerd, lol.
I actually think the mole is a snazzy dresser, and he dresses better than I normally do, but I am the man that fashion forgot.

And I only have six monitors, and ten PC's (with KVM switches to use them on 6 monitors), but I bought three 21 inch monitors second hand from an internet cafe, that is why they are numbered.

PPS I am hurt and dissapointed. The lack of cows on monitors is a bad sign. You are tempting the fates. Get yourselves cows, protect yourselves from what is to come. Only the cows can save us now.

I've got three dragons sitting on my tower, a cow wouldn't last long anywhere near the PC.

Noooo!!! I doubt the Viet Cong wore ascots. We tried to keep the uniforms as close to the real thing as is possible in 3D, and I think we did quite a good job.

...What Helgard told you about the scarf and the mole is true --that's how it happened. However he forgot to tell you why, after finishing the scarf, he kept the mole on the monitor.
Now, here is the whole truth:
Helgard is getting old and his eyesight is not what it used to be back in the glorious sniping days. Meaning that he needs to have resort to some “eyesight adjusting technology”. Trouble is that being vain he wouldn't admit that he needs correcting lenses. The mole is a most convenient hiding place for glasses, don't you think? 😉

That picture reminds me of how the VC used bicycles like pickup trucks to bring supplies along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.  Those were some dedicated troopers.

His full name is Will U Ever Moovit a name giving to him by my wife. I just don't know why she has to always shout it when she enters my office.....TttTtt Women.
