Have a look at this link! My, how time flies, eh? :)

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 1:16 PM

Perhaps I should elaborate: Did someone say, "Vue 4"? ;)

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 1:19 PM

And, can you say, "volumetric lighting" "new interface" "lens flare" "Solid Growth ROCKS!!!" Yes, it's true....what we've been waiting for. This is it, folks, the eagle has landed. :)

Not that I'm not happy about this, you understand, but I'd just decided to save my pennys and get Rhino! Life just isn't fair sometimes. sigh Rich

Axe555 ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 1:33 PM

BTW-Is it available as of May 7? If not, is there a release date yet? Rich

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 1:40 PM

Hi Rich, Well, that's the thing--- it doesn't appear to be available immediately, but if I know E-on, this announcement means it will be available VERY soon. And I'm sure that means VERY soon. And, you know, I just realized that I forgot all about sending you the links to the freeware modelers. Doh! Please forgive me... I will do so very soon--- I am so sorry. But, you know, I have to say, none of them compare to Rhino, except OFX, but you said you already have that one? Cheers, Mike

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 2:03 PM

I should have said this probably means very soon....

Axe555 ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 2:06 PM

Hey Mike, No problem on the links, whenever you've got time. I know all to well what it's like digging through CD's trying to find something! I'm sure none of them compare to Rhino, but I'd like to check them out just to see what I like/don't like about them. I do have OFX, but I've been playing with the Rhino Demo the past few days and I think it's much easier to work with. Thanks, Rich

Yes, the release should be very soon. I don't think they'd be announcing it unless they were already sure of a release date. As for SolidGrowth rocks, did it say SG rocks? I read it differently, that the "random rock generator" is in the terrain editor...which is like the one we have already, right? Or did I misread it? SG rocks would be wonderful to have! Real-time preview! :) I wonder what SolidGrowth 2 holds in store for us?

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 3:35 PM

Hmmm... I guess I must have misinterpreted that in my enthusiasm. I've always seen "Solid Growth" as more or less random, I suppose, so sorry for the confusion... As for Solid Growth 2, who knows, but I bet it kicks a**! For now, I'm just happy that they let us know about its' pending release!

...well, ain't that the bees knees!!! So mike, you still gonna' get World Builder 3? Hmm... :) -SMT

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

MikeJ ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 4:13 PM

WHAT Builder 3? ;)

::praying to the E-on Gods:: Please oh please let my alternate leaves materials still work with the new SG2 stuff! I've been upgrading them and making new ones, and I don't want to have to start all over from scratch - ack! Have they released 4 yet, huh? Have they? Have they? It's been hours since the announcement! (LOL, we are okay, really. Really!) :D

bloodsong ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 6:07 PM

hey! you forgot: 'import pz3s'!!!!!!!!!! wohoo! (but not animations. oh well.)

Cheers ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 7:10 PM

Yes, lets all pray that Varians leaves still work, not to say all the vegetations that I have bought...maybe the Kentia will work properly now...even if the rest don't LOL! Hey Bloodsong, don't worry. They have probably got animation import slated in for the 4.1 release :o) Cheers (Still in tooo good a mood to sue anybody, so make the most of it ;) )

Varian; I keep checking the e-on site every 5 minutes. I'm still up, it is nearly 2.00am over here, and I keep waiting for further updates. If I don't go to bed soon, I'll be too tired to do all the decorating and then the wife won't buy me my Vue 4. I just don't know what to do with myself! Cheers

Just checked out the e-on site again, and noticed that it was a whole 1.5 months between the announcment of Vue 3 and its actual release! Noooooooooooooo!!!!! I can't wait that long! What are they trying to do? Drive me insane.....errrrmmm, I'm already that. Hmmmmmm, I'll have to think about that one ;) Cheers

Hey, importing a PZ3 kinda implies that maybe there will be no need for the textures to be in the same folder as the models, doesn't it? Since a PZ3 file from Poser has all the full paths to the textures contained within it, as opposed to only a .mtl file which contains local paths. Interesting....

Varian ( ) posted Mon, 07 May 2001 at 11:54 PM

Cheers, Cheers, Cheers...(that's your name 3 times, just put it on my tab!) ...do yourself and your wife a favor and GO TO BED! If something happens, we'll wake you up to let you know right away, so go get some sleep! Hehe...I can't remember being this excited about a new upgrade since Terragen 0.8 was due. :) Mike, as much as they told us in the press release, it still leaves a lot of room for wondering about details. The way I read the Poser portion, it sounded to me like you simply import a PZ3 the way we currently import a 3DS or OBJ, and everything in the PZ3 comes in, in place. I coulda misunderstood of course, but that's how it sounds to me. :)

I'm excited too Alla...let's just hope that it actually becomes available soon! :) Not 1 1/2 months from the announcement date like Vue 3 did...how will I stand it?! Laurie

Surely it can't be soon ENOUGH!
