Subject: Poser 6 and 7's Render options troubles....

methhead ( ) posted Wed, 31 January 2007 at 12:38 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 5:53 AM

**When I bought Poser 5 and got used to the render settings screen, I was having no problem getting decent & CLEAR renders all day long.

But since I've bought poser 6 I never took to the render settings window and now with my 3rd purchase of poser 7, (wouldnt you know) it's got the same style render options/settings screen that whenever I render anything it comes out either fuzzy or more like, not as crisp as my poser 5 renders.
I've read all the tutorials but none really apply to this new leap in render settings that Curious Labs took from P5 to P6. Why couldnt efrontier have made a new render options window more user friendly like in poser 5. It feels close to poser 5 (<-poser 7) in alot of ways to me anyways. Except for the 90% of it that still feels like poser 6 which I rarely used over poser 5.

Anyways can a rendergod help me out with some pointers to get my renders up to snuff with these (posers 6&7) higher powered rendering engines these new apps have?

Thanks ,
Lowjackal**

**Added is my best screen capture of my poser 7 manual settings. In automatic it looks even worse. so can ya help me out with what I'm doing wrong.
                                                    OH and....
METHHEAD TO MOST = METHAMPHETAMINE USER OR TWEEKER LOSER.

I however broke my neck falling while attempting a double backflip off a **trampoline. ** One of those 14'ft round tramps that stand about 3'1/2 to 4'ft well above the ground. I know this is more than you really wanted to know but, because of severe constant pain when doing everyday activities hydrocodone (vicoden) became ineffective and at the amount my doctor was recommending I was a zombie. So Long story short.....
The METH in METHHEAD is for the Methadone I take to suppress the pain until I have surgery again on it.
And no I'm not a heroin addict thats at the methadone clinic everyday. Not that theres anything wrong with them either, I'm just lucky enough to get my meth in pills every month.

set your "min shade rate" to  0.2

if you have something that is still fuzzy... this sometimes happens with hair.... you will need to select the object and go into properties and lower the shade rate there (0.05 to 0.02 are pretty good) and also lower the "min shade rate" in the render settings.

it will take longer to render, but will be clearer.

thank you that worked like you said it would, it cleared up the fuzz. Now I wonder what the heck all these other things do?
post filter type : Box ,  Gaussian , or sinc

pixel samples:  default is 3 *(I wonder why)

Im gonna go experiment and thank you for your tip.*

There could also be slight blurring of the textures caused by texture filtering. You can no longer turn texture filtering off from the render options as it's applied directly to each material in the material room. However, stewer wrote a python script which does turn off texture filtering for all materials in the thread that I have linked to.

these are basicly antialiasing settings.

I've looked pretty hard for 'shade rate" inside my hairs properties and (since I'm so much more used to P5) I do most of my work in the advanced style materials room. I've seen and made use of the setting in the render settings window.(shade rate that is). But where are you talking about it in the object properties at?
