Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 18 2:22 am)
Two or three different scales have, more or less officially, been used by Poser. Back when V3 first appeared, the accepted base was 96 inches. Now, officially, it's somewhere around 104 inches. Dr, Geep uses an easy-to-calculate value of 100 inches. (All these are the real-world equivalent of what gets called a PNU--Poser Native Unit--which are the numbers in the .obj file.) People vary, and the scale differences don't much matter. But many man-made objects do have a definite size, and it's best to pick one value and stick with it.
Stahlratte proved in a thread that was later blocked, just after he himself was banned, that V3 is infact 6' 3". Thus she's taller by 4" than Lucy Lawless, who plays Xena in the TV series, and is 5' 1".

This Figure height-thing is something I get mad about. Why did they change it? It was allright in P4 and 5.The y-height dial indicated 1.80 m and everything was fine. Now I have to load a meterset(aveilable somewhere here in freestuff) to set up my figuresize. So they can kick out that head-length relationship display because it is useless. There is so much in Poser to kick out anyway.
To me it matters quite a bit, and default V3 and V4 are much too tall for most characters. You can look at nearly any photo of a human and see that either V3/V4 have tiny heads, or they're really abnormally tall. My fix has been to scale down the Body to about 94% and bump the head up about 5% - not for all my characters, as I've one that is intended to be pretty tall, but for "average" height ones. Your typical canned morph that you buy also has extremely large breasts in proportion to the body.

I have read all the posts regarding changing a character's height. So, I'm not going to be asking how to scale a person.
My question is this...
Is the scaling ruler found on the POser U website accurate (as much as it can be)?
The reason I ask is, according to the DAZ website, V3 is 5' 10". However, when I stack the ruler next to V3, it turns out she's about 6' 1".
Would this be accurate?
M3 is 6' 3" accoring to that ruler.
