It would figure the night before my power gets cut for repairs I would get inspired enough to use Poser for something other than work. Ah well...

I started this model in Silo. It's NOT finished yet...and also needs a board.

Then I started Poser and mucked around with the materials and an old background I painted in Photoshop a couple of years ago.  I of course adjusted levels and applied my standard quad layer set up for the final image (Bckgrnd, multpily, screen, overlay).

I wish I had enough time to model the board and finish his body but I have to get some sleep and when I wake up...no power.  Oh, and no work  I guess, lol. Hadn't thought about that.

here's the OBJ's material settings. I don't know if the phong really matters but it did alter the specular's influence so eh...I left it.  For those with more material experience than I, please forgive me. My knowledge of the program doesn't extend too far into the material room. Yes, I admit I don't know everything about Poser. I doubt there's anyone who does...except maybe my co-worker, Colin.

For you purists out there, here's the original render, straight from Poser.

I should angle his chest and head down and his arms up...he's standing too proud on the imaginary board.  Hmmm... do I want to stay up and do that or should I go to bed...decisions decisions.

He's looking pretty darn good. :) And thanks for posting the settings

Thanks! I think you're right. So, I'm staying up a bit longer. I went back into Silo to adjust the model's pose and tweak the mesh so that it looked right in that pose. I'm waiting for Poser 7 to render it up as I type this. Should only take a second.

oh, and I almost forgot to mention that I really love that silver surfer model. it looks great. I have a silver surfer pic in my gallery, but it'snoyt quite as good as that (mine is Dork with a SS texture).

WOW! What a difference. Okay, so this is an untouched Poser 7 render. I should mention that in all cases, I used three lights that were given a very light greyish yellowish color. One was placed above the model (the second strongest light), one was placed behind the model and to the right of the screen (strongest light). The last was placed beside the model on the left of the screen.

intensity: 100, 75, 75
Shadow:  .85, .35, .35
Shadow Map Size: 1024,1024,1024

respectively.

I actually liked this render straight out of the box, I don't think I'll do any touch up for it.

Let's see if I can stay up long enough to make a board....

Just realized you added a post in there Wheatpenny! Thank you! That's really nice of you to say. The model is a displacement sculpt from a low res base mesh (926 polygons) that I did in Silo 2 Beta.  It's okay. I've done better but it's nice to know someone likes it! Thanks.

Teyon ( ) posted Wed, 07 February 2007 at 3:02 AM

Sweet. Glad you like it. Once the model's finished being sculpted I'd be happy to send it to you. if you want.

Done deal then. I'm getting a bit of a headache, so I really will go to bed now. Thanks again for all the encouragement gang. I'll be back again...someday.

Teyon, that's a very nice image. So when you say your power might be cut is that something like when superman gets exposed to Kryptonite? And do you really think you should be telling the world about your powers anyway? Okay, well I'm sure your secret will be safe here at renderosity, but now that we know, how safe will we all be? Your enemies could use us to get to you. Love esther

That's a great model you've made in Silo 2 beta. I'm still at the learning stage but I like Silo and 2 will be great when completed. Do you want to write a tutorial for Poser users and Silo?? More power to you!

Cool figure I used to read the Silver surfer comics as a kid. Is there a Galactus on the horizon?
And heck I use poser all the time for fun. Really poser is nothing more than a hobby for me. I get too ticked off playing golf LOL!
