Does anyone experience vue 6 Infinite crashing when the displacement feature is used. It seems every time i use it that vue crashes on me so i never get to use this neat feature.

Could you give maybe a little more information what you are doing? Using bitmap textures? Procedurals? On which objects are you using it? Mac or PC? etc etc. The more information you give, the easier for people to answer and help.

According to the list,  the latest patch fixes this problem apparently, but before you jump and get that patch you'd best read an earlier thread, there are some serious memory issues with the new patch that e-on to their credit have now admitted to and another patch is on it's way [apparently!].

As it stands, you still have to be gentle when using displacements expecially if.....you are mixing displaced materials or are using layers with displacements and mixed displacements.  It's a feature that is worth wading through the bugs for however.

After the last update, I crash now only when using layers with displacements and only sometimes.

It's just a simple procedural noise that i used for the displacement over a sphere primitive.

PC - Pentium 4 2.8 Gig CPU and 1 Gig of Ram.

Vue 6 Infinite Build 282000 - I will stay clear of the latest update until Vue is done with it's pre-release versions.

Here is just another thought regarding the displacement feature. I wonder if it uses micro-poly displacement like what Modo 202 uses. Micro-poly displacement is highly detailed just using image map imports alone and no procedurals. It is very cool actually.

As of the latest update all my displacement problems have gone away.
