Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 06 4:35 pm)
There is a way to hack it out by editing one of the xml files. There used to be a thread in the forums detailing how to do that. Either Poser or Poser Technical, I don't remember. It was quite some time back, when Poser 6 wasn't even released yet.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
you take it out of P6 the same way it was done in P5.
Netherworks ( http://www.netherworks-studios.com/ ) has a pdf but i don't see it on his site anymore.
you might try dropping him a note to see if you can get it.
In poser 5 it actually made poser run smoother, in Poser 6 it doesn't make a difference. I haven't bothered to try to take it off p7.
I like content paradise, i just don't visit it through Poser.

thanks..
CP gives me a bad taste in my mouth. I really don't want to discuss it much farther than that., so the less i have to deal with them, the better.

There is a post about this at the link above...last post on page 2 but here it is...it's for Poser 5 but works for Poser 6 as well....Quote - "layingback"]OK, for BadCo and others wanting more detailed instructions:
NB: Usual warnings, not responsible for damage done to your system, your Poser or your sanity if you follow these instructions - your mileage may vary, etc.
I can only give instructions for one of the very slow Poser 5 setups - 'cos that's the one I have, but some additional notes at end for others...
First copy posershell.xml as a backup. It's in Poser 5Runtimeui. Using Windows Explorer, right click the file and select Copy. Right click on any white space in Win Explorer and select Paste to save a copy.
OK, open posershell.xml in an editor - WordPad will do.
Find the first occurrence of: contentRoom
This should be of the form: <Widget name="contentRoomTab" ...
Delete everything through to the next > character, ie. leave the section for the clothesRoom alone. And don't leave any blank lines.Find the next occurrence of: contentRoom
This should be of the form: <Tab width="65" textWidget="contentRoomTab" />
Delete this whole line. Again don't leave any blank lines.Find the third and last occurrence of: contentRoom
This should be of the form:
Delet that line, and every line up to an including the first one containing . i.e. leave the faceRoom alone. Again, leave no blank lines.Double check to see that there aren't any more instances of contentRoom.
Save the file, and give it a shot. If you have no Content Room, and Poser 5 loaded faster than before, then you're set. And if you had a Poser 5 dog before like I did, you'll now discover that moving the parameter dials is just a little slower than in Poser 4, like it is when Poser 4 is getting tighter on memory - whereas before it was was more like a roulette wheel with a mind of it's own
Now on my version of the posershell.xml file those were all the changes necessary and applicable. But in c1rcle2's original post above there were instructions to remove a line containing <PSDFile name="./runtime/ui/"1701_ContentStuff.psd />. You'll see where these are, up near the top of the file, but mine had 10 of these types of lines, for loading all the other rooms, but not one for the contentRoom - go figure! But if you find one, you might want to delete it too.
FYI, in the description above the first delete removes the room selection from the ui, the second delete removes the image of the tab from the ui, and the last removes the actual page, all the palettes, etc.
Even if you hate CP, I don't see what the big deal is with the content tab being there. But obviously to some it is. Have folks suggested to EF that they provide easier customizing of the tabs and features in Poser?
That's interesting that the content room tab noticably slowed P5. I don't recall ever noticing that. Although, I can't say I bothered much with P5. P6 and P7 certainly load faster than my P4 does. I haven't noticed anything different when using the parameter dials between any of them though. Is this a common problem? And it's cured by removing the Content tab? I don't recall ever hearing any of this before. I need get out more.
Irene-
awesome..thanks cherokee69...
I don't hate CP, the place gives me a bad taste in my mouth...maybe disdain is a better word. Their overall stance to their customers, overall lack of support...smartass, defensive answers when you pose a problem on their forums, kicking people out of their forums even though its the only place you can get support for many products, not fixing issues with products, such as their original figures...those kinds of things.....deleting posts when you say something similar as above with no comment whatsoever...
I did have several problems with them early on, not giving me discounts on sales and stuff, and was told "what does it matter" by thr person that answered the email I sent..finally...and the fact the sale was now over, even though I bought the stuff during the sale period. Also a couple of other similar incidents.
So the less I need to see evidence of them, the better...plus maybe it will make Poser run better too if I remove that tab...suppose it could..less to load.
I did remove it in P5, and yes, there were performance gains...but I lost the instructions on how to do it some time ago.

The Content Room slowdown was a Poser 5 only problem.

For what it's worth.... I've always noticed an increase in start up time in Poser 6 when Content Parasite is removed... a drastic improvement in start up time to tell the truth!!!
With P7 not playing nice with Carrara 5, I've since gone back exclusively to P6!!!

I do not want that Content Paradise tab in my Poser 6 installation. Is there a way to get rid of that rubbish part of the program?
Is this included in Poser 7? Can you get rid of it in there as well?
That CP place is the poorest excuse for a store/site I've ever seen. and you have to be a passport member to even get into the forum...and are they the only forum supporting Poser that is directly Efrontier?
