Turn your renders into painted masterpieces with these six Photoshop actions.

Perhaps you have found, as I have, that the stock Adobe filter effects for recreating paint effects are pretty heavy handed even in the their minimum settings.

I've developed this set of actions, based on my nearly two decades of experience using Photoshop, to mimic a variety of painting/drawing styles.

Each action performs a series of filtered & then layered blends on duplicates of the original image (up to 10 or more layers) to impart a unique painted look to your images.

The 6 actions are:

  • Oils w/stroked highlights
  • Oils w/smooth highlights (better details)
  • Soft Pastels (Chalk)
  • Pointilist (Seurat)
  • Watercolor - Saturated & Less Saturated
  • Chalk & Charcoal
  • Use them in combinations

I've found that you can use them in multiple combinations to acheive an endless variety of looks. The more actions you use on a resulting image the more it degrades the image integretity tending to make the images look more impressionistic.
