Yeah Alpha pretty much. In really bright pictures they don't show up too well. (obviously) mj..thanks. Did a little photo series on jewelry just for my own amusement..just came back from another 2 hours in the darkroom actually, got a handful of prints to share but...sigh You see what happens to them :P Maybe I'm just being pedantic though...
lol Many of us are doing huge job to get reselts like this. So sell your scanner for some fanatic Photoshopper. ...seriously, that looks like what Alpha said. Though, that pattern is symmetrical and have horizopntal lines as well, so its kind of hard to believe that dirt does this alone. Is this scanner old and does it give you .jpg or .tiff pics? Because jpg-compression seems to be kind of bad quality too. -N
Hey ho.... I wouldn't have a clue what the scanner is...a HP one. And it belongs to the school, so it would be crap, no doubt. CMOS vs CCD? Kerr ga ploink ugga ugga baa? Sorry, I'm lost when it comes to scanners. I'd say it just needs replacing, full stop. Anything computer-wise bought in by the school is the cheapest they can get a hold of that actually works. I'm probably more likely to get a better scanner from CashConverters or something :) Anyway thanks for the help.

This is a photo I've recently done...scanned with the equipment I have available. See the white lines going across it vertically? I don't know what's wrong with the scanner and why it always does that.. we don't have any editing software except Windows PhotoEditor so..uhh...I'm screwed :P What can I do? At least this scanner slightly better than the one that 'leaks light'.
