I've watched it 3 times I LOVE it the only thing i could see that was even remotely questionable was him falling from the med-bed the motions seems a bit off from the SFX but man I am a fan already i signed up for your newsletter please hurry with episode 2. BTW what program did you use to animate all the panels with the light scans and wording etc. I have to learn how to do that!
Thanks for sharing this great video!

Yeah, I have to mention, the glowing light effects were fantastic, what software did you use?

LeoLang ( ) posted Thu, 01 March 2007 at 2:16 PM

Thanks Thromm ...
To answer your question ... I built the scenes in Poser 6 and 7 and then Rendered a still image of the Background .... from there, whatever was in my shot that was animated (mostly figures) all were rendered with a green screened  ...  then I imported the green screen animation  and the still background and composited everything togther in Adobe After Effects.  Once in After Effects I added most of the 'blinking' lights and "glowing' effects there.   I should add that most of the camera work was done in After Effects as well ... It kept my files sizes down and it proved to be a much faster way to render ... I did most everything with compositing and some basic traditional 2D animation tricks.  At adobe.com you can dowload a free 'complete' trial version of After Effects 7.0 for thirty days ... If you download it ... shoot me a message and I'll be happy to walk you through it.
cheers

Great, thanks Leo!  I've used After Effects a number of times, (older versions) but you really sound like you had a great workflow going.  Everything came off really smooth.  Great work, I can't wait to see more!

All right ... I had to take a year off (work related) ... but now I'm back and Episode 2 will be up in a couple of weeks ... stay tuned.
