Subject: ATTN Monsoon Customers......

Monsoon ( ) posted Thu, 01 March 2007 at 3:46 PM · edited Thu, 13 February 2025 at 11:13 PM

If you have purchased my products for V5 and V6 Infinite.......beware that the new 'Final' version of V6 Infinite ruins many of them upon first application.

There are a great many problems with this version including a distortion of the advanced turbulence node in the materials...I don't know, same settings and everything but it comes out whacked!!

SO...if you are applying any of the mats in the Cliffs n Caverns kit or Ecowear you have to go into the bump and change the turbulence node from 'advanced' to 'simple' in order for the material to appear as it was meant or close to it. And that's just one bug I've found so far...

Monsoon angry!!!  The tool I made my product for ruins my product!!! How can one deliver quality when you can't tell what the customer is actually seeing??  Vue 6 final makes me look bad literally!!  Am I going to have to redo all this work???!!

Again, if you are using Vue6Infinite Final version and my mats look like crap.....

AAAAARRrrrrrghhhh......

Sorry for the strong initial post.....Frustration got the best of me.  But yikes......At any rate I had to do some juggling but I reinstalled the prerelease along side the Final and am making a detailed report for a tech ticket.

The last time I got so upset with Vue was when a version of V5I would disappear my stuff into the ether as soon as I saved it lol....

Anyway if anyone has any questions about Monsoon materials, drop me a line....

Thanks,

M

Sorry you are having such problesm!   And thanks for the advice.  I have been trying to use some of the cave mat and I couldn't work out what I was doing wrong because they didn't look the same as in Vue prerelease.  ( you are right , they did not look good!;))    Now they look fine:)

Sorry to hear that Mark - like many I haven't installed the "Final" release due to all of the bad press it's been getting.

Let's hope E-On get things sorted quickly for all of our sakes!

I have kept my good old vue 5.11 Infinite on my machine and it is my PLACE TO BE.... good to have a head's up re: your products in vue 6....I am letting 6 SIT on my machine indefinitly till it is "fixed" .... really did not realize (my fault, should have READ more that this was a RE-BUILD from the ground up and would be very different!!) when I jumped the gun and bought it.... it has a long way to go....

Hang in there..it's NOT your fault and you can say Vue 5 only or something on your store pages?? Your stuff is the BEST!!

Thanks Monsoon....

I think I own all your products with the exception of you new Cave series and plan on getting  that soon,

I saved for Vue 6 xStream  for a long time and hoped against hope it would not have the problems of Vue 5 or 5I

I am having severe import problems as well as mapping and material issues on several products.

I am reverting, as is Lynne , back to Vue 5i and Vue 6 will sit here till problems are corrected.

Really a shame.  I had hoped E-on would have learned. Hope they step up to the plate and correct these issues.

Your products are top notch. Understand how you feel and thanks for the heads up.

I am so sorry to hear of your troubles.  I own a few of your products and am blown away at their quality.  I hope e-on gets things in order so your name and reputation gets restored.

Lets hope the next update solves this bad problem so monsoons textures work as they were designed to work.
A lot of people use his high quality packages.   They are some the best to be found for use in Vue. :)

Thanks  my friends for your enthusiasm and support!!!

I've got all three Vue versions  now running side by side.  My projects will continue but for V5 and the pre release.......

Having the pre release and final together makes it easier to see what's whacked in the final specifically and I'm writing a big bug report for the techs......time will tell.

On a good note however and a pleasant surprise.......I was really worried that what I had created and saved in the Final version would not load in the prerelease just as was common throughout all the updates.  But....lo and behold they do and look just as intended!!  It's about time different builds were backward compatable........

Still....it does feel good to scream once in a while lol.....

Actually I just noticed some of these issues. Was my first time buying your products, and was a little disappointed. Did what you suggested and things look much better. Thanks for being so conscientious to make this post. I look forward to your full findings.

I've started having jpg prblems with your free "postcards from the rim" stuff now too!
Vue6Inf fails to find a jpg, can't remember which now and the maps on one of the ships ]GTS windstar clipper] look really bad. Funny thing is they looked ok last week [confused!!].

Injustice will be avenged.

Monsoon ( ) posted Sun, 04 March 2007 at 12:32 PM

Confused is right....none of that should be happening.  Vue6 being broken is an injustice lol...and probably needs to be avenged :).....

iloco ( ) posted Sun, 04 March 2007 at 12:52 PM

I got feeling it will be avenged when next  version rolls out.  I for one will not be spending money again for a prerelease and thats how I see the final we got now that is all messed up with lots problems. :)
Gheeeeeeez I never in my life expected what is happening to vue.  :(
I feel sorry for those developers who are having to fix so many problems we find every day.   I hope e-on has an overhaul of beta testing and gets some of us in on it next time.   Looks like a few are finding most the bugs while everyone else sits back and just reads.      Come on people and speak up.   Its only a piece of software and dont be afraid of those who are always sayng it works for me when they dont know what they talking about.    Prove them wrong is how to do it. :)

Well, I sent my bug list to tech support. Let's see what happens.

Monsoon ( ) posted Mon, 12 March 2007 at 9:53 AM

E-on is hard at work fixing these issues................This is the reply I got this a.m.

I'm heartened that soon we'll have our Vue just the way we need it.

  1. This is now fixed (above build 290146). It happened when first material of the scene was a HyperTexture material and when polygonal objects that use several materials were loaded.

This was in response to hypertextures turning other objects into hypertextures when they weren't volumetric.

  1. This is now fixed as well (above build 290146).

This was in response to shadows showing transparency as though thru missing polygons when there were none.

  1. We are still trying to reproduce that one.

This is in response to copy/paste of functions ceasing to work after a few times.

  1. Indeed, turbulence had to be modified because of a backward compatibility issue. Unfortunately, scenes created with the pre-release have to be manually modified consequently, sorry about this.

This is in response to the problem in the initial post. This not only includes mats made in the pre release but for Vue5 as well. I'll have to insert some kind of notice in my products.

  1. We have made several tests in Vue 5, Vue 6 pre-release and Vue 6 final, all results are exactly the same. Distortion applied to peripherical objects is normal, and is more visible when focal length gets shorter.

This one is in response to what I thought was a glitch in the default FOV. But I guess it was more a fault in my brain and my trifocals lol....

Keep fingers crossed folks....

Good report monsoon and I will be glad to get a good update so can start playing with vue instead of posting in forums.
I am looking forward to an update and keep clicking to see if one is available. :)
Thanks for the report.  :)
