Subject: Lunar Eclipse tonight. Post pics if you got it!

Cloud cover kept us from seeing the beginning of the eclipse tonight.  This is the most I could get once the clouds drifted away. 

This was shot at 1/20sec, f/5.6, digital ISO 320, 200mm.

lol I saw that but did niot know it was tonight. Thinking it was tomorrow night. I heard it on the radio and some of the history of it. lol it over here I just ran outside to look and the moon is full. Thanks for posting this

Ahhhh, had no idea this was coming. Wondered what was up when I drove out of Coal Creek Canyon into the Rocky Flats area in Colorado this evening and saw this. Pulled off and took a quicky. 285mm, 1/6 at f5.6, digital ISO 50. Not the best, and later than you but it was still orange.

i'm working on a collage - i took a progression of shots right up to full eclipse. Rachel is here tho so not much time to play... might have it up tonight but most likely tomorrow.

Here is one straight from raw to crop to web. The orange color is a little more saturated than I remember it being but the color was more pronounced in this than the first pic I posted. In this one a tab more of the moon is in eclipse.  This is a very small part of the entire field of view at 200mm and some detail is lost.

I look forward to the collage of progressive shots.

Work on it Rich I  "want"  to see the final picture! ( Rachel...leave him alone dear...LOL! ) I love those collages made of the moon transit across a sky or changing into phrases or colors!  I have a few of those but too embarass to show them , I am so hopeless to do it!

it's up, but my lcd screen let me down along with a long exposure.  I'll get it right next time... hehe - whenever that is! 😉

Nice captures gang. I used the FZ50 to get this and was disappointed at first because the cloudy sky didn't let me see anything. When the moon finally appeared, it was already coming out of the eclipse and the bright crescent made it hard to see the red portion. I used the night scene setting and wasn't thrilled with the results, this was about a 7 second exposure.

As the exlipse was fading and the red glow gone, I took this one on manual at 1/50 of a second. This was at full zoom and both photos are crops at 50% of the original size.

Although i think by that time i will actually own a tripod, have learnt from my mistake on saturday and ammend my shooting technique, or actually not be bothered because i'll be out taking photo's in the high andes. that or combine the two 😉

Well Rick , the next lunar eclipse is due on august 28 this year. All europe ganna miss out, but if you happened to be at the high mountains of Andes you might lucky to see it and capture it again.

I did manage to grab a series but had no tripod to hand So I  had to try this hand held with my 100-400 @ 5.6 500iso at 640th and use a couple of stops of  manual exposure compensation

lol I sorry I put a sun one up . forgive me but I can not deleted it . It is a link that I just find this site and it do have wonderful photos on it sorry but I guess i sure be in bed now for I not well and I was happy to see this image but it not a moon shot lol
